All Austinites may soon shoulder extra green energy costs

Austin's electric utility could soon reverse a long-standing practice of selling wind, solar and other renewable energy only to customers who choose to buy it, four Austin City Council members and a mayoral aide said this week.

Apparently, you used to have the OPTION of paying more for 'greener' energy in Austin, but they figured out it cost a lot more to make it green than the color is used to be.

"If we have to spread the cost" to sell enough renewable energy, "that's something we should do," Council Member Sheryl Cole said. "Austin should move forward in its leadership role in heading off global warming."

The ignorance in this statement, by someone who is supposed to be in a leadership position is mind-boggling and rife with propaganda. A leadership role in 'heading off global warming??'

Where do these people GET this stuff?

If we WERE experiencing 'Global Warming' as a result of mankind's lack of oversight or use of resources, we are FAR TOO LATE to change it, or 'head it off.' The propaganda is to make us swallow THIS crap:

The price of GreenChoice has nearly doubled since early 2008. A new GreenChoice subscription would now raise the monthly summer bill of an average Austin homeowner from $93.35 to $151.85,

Austin is ahead of the game, as far as I'm concerned. They use traditional coal-fired plants, Nuclear, Wind and Solar power. It's weird how none of that seems to be helping the consumers out any. Cost are going up. A lot.

This is just a heads up for the rest of us. What affects one of us affects us all.
