One word FOX!. FOX? always sensationlising news.

In many cases I would agree but in this one no. I am seeing it too. I live in a 30 something neighborhood and almost half are laid off from work which has resulted in 3 foreclosed houses on our block alone. I don't know where these people went to but it's really happening and it's incredibly sad and my heart aches for these families and we could be one of them one day.

learn to accept a much lower standard of living

Good!

Too long have we believed that we are entitled to big TVs and expensive dinners out. Too long have we worked 60+ hour weeks to pay ridculous mortgages. Too long have we neglectd our families to further our careers.

We live in a society that values wealth way too much. Maybe it will take us losing our material possesions to make us appreciate each other a little bit more.

We can sit around and blame Obama, the Labour party, liberals, immigrants whatever group or person you dislike but the truth is - It's our own damn fault - we gobbled up the easy credit, the crap mortgages, the credit cards, ect;

Now the piper has come calling and someone has to pay.

Time to take stock and reevaluate what is important in your life. Personally I never bought into the whole "must have now" culture. I don't have much, so I won't lose much. I do have a wonderful family and great friends with whom I spend lots of time with. I do have time to explore my hobbies, I do read a lot for pleasure, I do bake fresh bread, I do take long walks in the woods - I am truley wealthy - in the currency that counts.

Embrace a lower standard of living - It has brought me nothing but happiness and fulfillment.

This is how I understand it also.

People getting greedy spending extravagantly beyond their reach thanks to easy credit, now they realise they spent way too much and can't afford to repay the money they've loaned and are facing foreclosure and eviction on houses bigger than I actually needed.

They only have themselves to blame, the banks are at fault to a lesser extent to loaning out so much money but it's ultimately those who got in debt who are at fault as nobody forced them to buy a new bigger home when their current home was suitable enough

I agree there, sometimes it can be necessary to take a loan, but to use it for frivrolous means, and thinking one is entitled, nay, deserves a giant TV, a giant car, and various other status symbols, is just plain crazy.
We need to live within our means, we can't just expect people to pick up the slack. And with banks making credit stupidly easy, it comes as no surprise that so many people were duped!

Fourteen nations, 48,620 miles, 25 days overseas — can Obama declare foreign policy missions accomplished? This is from the front of foxnews. How does one spend a month overseas while their own country is in shambles? Yea... it's gonna get worse!

Do you really think that the people in power give a toss about you, your surplus to requirement, different years back when they needed a thousand men to run a factory but now with the technology you invented they only need ten men to do the work of a thousand, you do not honestly believe they have a heart and will allow you a life of leisure lol no chance they already have started the elimination programme they already have started stripping you of your assets and next is your right to live . So I wouldn’t count on a future unless you have something they need and want.

It's funny that you brought that up since I often wonder the same thing. i mentioned in a rant the other day about Obama pitching out a ball at a baseball game and everybody jumped all over me.

However, i think most people simply missed my point. I don't care about the game perse, or the idea of it, BUT -\

doesn't anybody realize all of these trips cost money? Everywhere he goes, I just see dollar signs swarming and zooming right out the window. I'm not saying that a president doesn't need to travel, but given the current economic status of our country, I at least think a little discretion is in order.

Some of these trips were necessary, others were simply a hollywood-style welcoming party -- on OUR dime!

I wish people would realize that $25,000 minimum everytime he leaves the White House adds up....and adds up quickly!

It used to be that Foreign Diplomats came to US. Now, Obama is so set on traveling all over the freakin' world apologizing to everyone, all the time bankrupting us faster and faster.

Whether one agrees with his policies or not, I should think that we could all agree that given the toilet that this country is currently encircling, a little restraint when generating massive expenses would be greatly appreciated.
