Many of us here have fantastic signature quotes. I however am beginning to think that we will not ever have the kind of literary inspirational quotes such as Neitzche, Goethe, Hemingway, Socrates, and so forth anymore in American society. TBTP have killed our youths interest in any such thing. I suspect they cater to the ADHD and impulsivity, with the "I want it now mentality."

"I want it now!" Doesn't have the patience to become a great writer, especially when it can be tweeted and forgotten, if we had something to say in literary brilliance at all.

You'll have to pardon me, I watched Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, last night again. I don't foresee a return to literature that meant something in spirit anymore.

I agree. I had to look into specific philosophers and people on my own time to find out who they were because it was never taught in the early stages of school.

No one knows because no one cares enough to look, not because it isn't there.

It is sad, but what do you really expect with all the mundane pointless bs they are teaching in schools. Besides the fact that is biased and only specific subjects are brought to attention, young peoples motivation is to get the hell out of school and go to some college and work some job and live a robotic life only fueled by their materialistic needs based on societies corrupting programming of the human culture. Not to learn to better themselves... why would any person in power want you to know anything besides respect authority, go to work, go pay your bills, go drink your coffee, go eat your pills, pay off your slave debt, never question why things are the way they are and so on.

It's simple to see but the solution is hard because everyone thinks they have a earthly solution to an outerworldly problem. They don't. Most people who fit the description can't see past a specific point ahead of them. So their solutions are unfulfillable and unrealistic most of the time.

Everyone is caught in this downward spiral domino effect. When will the people finally unify their concerns and forget of the petty bias that divides them daily? When will anyone realize their true potential instead of being intellectual monkeys? Why can't anyone see the manipulation right in front of their eyes? Why doesn't anyone take the time to observe their inner selves and realize we reflect outs into the world what's on the inside.

But no one listens, and if they do, there is no action. Passive aggressive procrastination until the day comes and you die and most likely you'll have no understanding of why and you'll be afraid of death and when you die you'll be stuck and you'll struggle to find your way out of this, never ending spiral of time.

I often wonder this myself. There is no originality in anything these days not just with quotes, movies are remade, music is remade, cars are remade and in my opinion its the end of the line when you are not moving as you are dying.

“All good things must come to an end.”

I dont think anyone can improve on this quote.

I understand what you mean and to prove your point further:

That is what happens when you want something NOW.

"Patience is a virtue, I suggest you learn it." Damn my mother is mean..lol..

Thank you for the Veruca Salt Embedded Video! This is more or less what I think whenever I see Paris Hilton types, the Queen of The USA on TV.

Our Media is programming our youths to be Nihilists. Our Consumerism is not harmless when it is reinforced with 15 second snippets of bright flashing lights, and the illusion of fun and satisfaction.

I am still in high school, and I disagree with the above hypothesis that contemporary youth are unwilling to read and/or appreciate the classics. I challenge that anyone who doubts this to walk into an A.P. or Honors high school class.

One will find that a great many of the students have read Plato, Thoreau, and Hemingway. They are capable of forming a sentence without Text Messaging Shorthand. Contrary to ATS opinion, students are not mindless zombies. Said students, just like us, question the mass media - they just don't bitch about it on the internet.

I don't understand all of these threads about the contemporary youth being uneducated mindless zombies. They are just as thoughtful and skeptical as any ATS member.

A.M.L.

You give me hope, but you don't represent the majority, and the majority will never know what's good for them.

Hell, even in the minority we don't know what's good for us.

We take authorities words over our own, because they are in the seat of power. Or we are too dumb, or too impoverished and too disorganized to fight back at a better educated, and better organized federation of Corporations which run Government institutions.

Again A.M.L. nothing personal, I'm pleased you can think for yourself. Question everything that doesn't feel right about Authority.
