Blair is EU Candidate for EU Presidencey

Ex-prime minister Tony Blair is the UK candidate for president of the European Council, Europe Minister Baroness Kinnock has apparently confirmed.

At a briefing for journalists in Strasbourg, Lady Kinnock said the UK was supporting Mr Blair for one of the most powerful posts in the EU.

Asked if this had been discussed with Mr Blair, she said the government "would not do that without asking him".

OMG I do hope he is not elected the EU President. If he does become elected, the EU is going to be in trouble as a whole. Especially the UK. He will do everything he can to get back at gordon brown, for the smear campaign he pulled against him before he left office.

This is scarey. DO not make him EU Presdient.

Nah cant be, its just called the European Union.

The UK should not even be a part of this nonsense, it is against our constitution which most people do not even know exists.

Can the moderators combine the two threads, just wondering!

We saw just how easy the American president George W Bush manipulated and controlled Blair, and old "W" was a certified loon. Imagine how easy someone charismatic like Obama would find it to have poodle Blair jumping through hoops and getting Europe involved in wars created by the Americans!?
For gods sake, and ours, I hope common sense prevails and Blair is ruled out as European president.
