Bomb Found at Tulsa Jewish Center

www.newson6.com

TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Police Bomb Squad was called to the Charles Schustermann Jewish Community Center on Tuesday afternoon shortly after 5 o'clock.

The center, located at 2025 E. 71st Street, had reportedly received a number of threats during the day and a suspicious package was found in a trash can outside the center.

Tulsa Police tell The News On 6 the device is some sort of bomb. Evacuations are underway at the community center.

This is a breaking news story and no other information is available. I will add new information as it comes through.

And people wonder why the Jewish people and Israel in general are so jumpy? I've read many posts here on ATS that say Israel and/or Jews are overly hostile. IMO, not hostile, just prudent considering the level of hate so many people have against them.

Whoever is behind this was knowingly targeting children.

It's kind of unusual for bombers to call ahead to warn their targets.

They have been known to set up secondary explosive devices to target first responders.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out and whether the networks pick it up.

It is unusual but not uncommon. I worked at the courthouse in Tulsa for several years and in my time there we received several phoned in bomb threats. We had to stop whatever we were doing and actively search for anything out of the ordinary.

I'm also anxious to see also if the major networks pick this up.

I wonder if this is another FBI set up. Is their budget coming up for review any time soon?

SoldierMom,
Thanks for posting this. I just read this and went searching the usual suspects (CNN, YahooNews, etc). Nothing yet there. I am amazed sometimes at the news I read here that never makes it to the mainstream media. But, then again, I'm new here... I bet I'll see this pretty often as I spent more time at ATS.

In America maybe but not UK, that was the IRA's modus operandi. Oklahoma has a lot of white power, anti-government and separatist groups, it probably was a legit threat.

You will find many stories here that don't make it on the MSM. That's why I spend quite a bit of time here.

Still checking for updates but none yet. I hope this doesn't go by the wayside for obvious reasons.

The "ticking device" has been determined to be not a bomb.

Authorities don't know what it is yet.

The Tulsa Bomb Squad has ruled a suspicious "ticking device" was not a bomb. The scare happened at the Jewish Retirement Center near 71st and Wheeling around 5:00p.m. Tuesday evening.

Authorities still have not identified the object. All evacuations have been canceled, and the Zarrow Campus is being re-opened.

Device At Jewish Center Harmless

Tulsa police now say a suspicious device found at the Charles Schusterman Jewish Community Center in the 2000 block of E. 71st, between Lewis & Wheeling, was harmless. The so-called "ticking device" was located in a building in the retirement portion of the center. The bomb squad investigated and discovered it did not contain any harmful material.

False alarm but I bet the people that perpetrated this are laughing right now.

Which Middle East country gets bombed for this and which of our Constitutional Rights do we have to give up this time to make the social misfits feel secure?

So this is a triviality in your mind because it involves Jews? It was a bomb threat directed at a Jewish center where children and seniors attend day camp and live. I'm amazed at the vicious replies I see on here when it concerns Israel or the Jewish people. Who cares if it turned out to be a harmless ticking device? A crime was still committed.

If I were of Jewish descent, I'd be looking over my shoulder all the time too.

Bomb threats aren't funny and law enforcement takes them seriously.

I would expect that with the evidence in this case, the police will investigate this incident to the fullest.

I used to be in private security and had to deal with a number of bomb threats against a high-rise office building in which I worked.

No one takes them lightly.

Sounds like you look over your shoulder all the time anyway!

Yes with all the problems that confront the world, many of them because of the Palestinian question and how Israel has turned the Middle East into a volatile quagmire I would say it's a very trivial matter except for people looking for special treament and dispensation.

More people die from carcinegens diliberately placed in the food chain and water shed than from bombs.

This is all nothing but publicity for the cult of victimization and it was probably some JDL member's wrist watch in that package.

How Israel has turned the Middle East into a volatile quagmire?!?! I've never heard Israel call for the destruction of any of the muslim countries. I suggest you immerse yourself in a bit of study on who the true aggressors are in that situation. You have proof smacking you in the face with this story on the second class status Jews have to endure from people such as the one or ones that levied this bomb threat. Go peddle your baseless theories elsewhere.
