Disturbing Billboard Bleeds when it Rains (with video)

The local government in Papakura, isn't screwing around when it comes to road safety. Their new bleeding billboard campaign takes a Red Asphalt approach that they hope will creep out reckless drivers.

Let me be the first to say "mission accomplished." Kids are creepy anyway, but throw in a system that leeches blood when it rains and you just might scare people into giving up their cars entirely. Not surprisingly, the billboards have been effective. Since they were put in place, there hasn't been a single fatal accident in the area

I dunno about you - but - were I to see this when I was driving?
I’d crash my car.

Added note: Can you imagine this going on in the States? All hell would break loose... lol

They "say" it worked.

I have thought of the amount of control you have over someone else's life when driving, and then think the amounts of people driving too...a bit of self enlightenment for ya.

If it works, sure why not. Seems like it is.

Telling people to be careful (even with this sign) is a lot better than "forcing" people to be careful with laws that charge drivers before crimes are committed, or over ridiculous things like 2-3 MPH.

That might be the most clever advertising I have ever seen...

but what im wondering is how can we have such a violent image on billboards for all to see


yet we are so obsessive about what our kids see on tv, the internet, the movies, what's in the songs they listen to


i mean a kid driving down the street can see a billboard of a kid with blood coming out of everywhere

but he cant go to a r rated movie or surf the net without some porn filters

I'm all for it if it works!

People need to put things in perspective and think of consequences when they drive too quickly or dangerously, and appreciate the slower pace of life.

It's never good when hospitals are busy.

i was in new zealand a few years ago and they had then a very hardcore sign campaign aimed at reducing road accidents...seems to be their strategy..

I've shown a few people here this add - and they are HORRIFIED.
Thinks it should be banned.

Hmmm...

But our roads are nightmares of deaths...

Is it not ironic that they are trying to prevent road accidents by displaying a huge bleeding billboard on the side of the road that every driver will stare at?

I'm surprised they (the billboards) don't cause more accident for people wanting to look at them....you know how people can all of a sudden drive 25mph when they want to rubber-neck at something.....

What a great idea! My mind quickly raced to come up with another idea along these lines. The industry I believe would most profit from something like this is the diaper industry. Just think of a billboard that proclaims the end of leaking diapers with a little torso of a baby wearing a diaper. When it rains, UHG!
