It's no worse than regular seasonal flu unless you have underlying complications from autoimmune diseases and the like. It's not rare that someone recovers but now he will have an immunity unlike the rest of us when exposed to the H1N1 virus. In my opinion you would want to get this flu now before or if it recombines with another virulent protein making it more deadly. This way you body recognizes the first virus and you are less likely to subcomb to the more deadly version should there be one.

Me and my wife. We actually get off our quarantine tomorrow.
Three days of pooping and barfing. Thought we'd die. Then two days of, "I think I'm going to live". Then two days of, "what was the big deal?"

Our doc said, no big deal. It's the flu. Get over it. Don't panic and drink lots of liquids.

The underlying issue isn't the flu. It's how the government(s) are reacting to it.

Forced vaccinations of god knows what.
Forced quarantines. (trust me, I know)
Restrictions of public assemblies.

Just more government control.

We are fine.

We got over it.

Our youngest never even got sick!!

Beware of the government hype.

Beware of the government hype.

That's one of the wisest statements of the day, if not our age!!!
One has to fair to them as it could get bad (and looks like it will). But will it (like 911) be used to reduce our freedom. Well "it's a shame to let good opportunities go to waste" (goes a well known phrase).

I've been thinking that to. I've actually wondered about visiting London to catch the damn thing at this weak stage. If I do not I might be "one of the chosen ones"!!!

It was the flu. My doc said that there was all this panic over something silly as the flu. That's how he treated it. We did get tested for type A H1N1 and it did come back positive but that is the risk you take when you're married to a nurse.

As above poster said, dont believe the hype. I would go further to say, forget the vaccine as well. According to the CDC, flu vaccines only provide up to 16% immunity anyhow, and there is no surety that the vaccine will even apply to that flu when (IF) it actually comes around. The only people truly even at any risk from this flu, or any other, are the elderly, infants, or the immuno-compromised.

Remember folks, this is the same hype we got for SARS, for valley fever, for west nile, the 76' swine flu, and many others that were supposed to kill millions but never materialized, and just managed to sell lots of vaccines.

I have to say this though, don't be complacent about it. Remember that people are people are viruses well... they will do anything to survive. It's not their goal to kill their host but rather replicate. I don't disagree with the WHO what worries me be it this virus or the next is people. They will think it's a cry wolf story and ignore the warnings and then BAM this thing has a 90% mortality rate. Right now tho, it's flu albeit a type that humans have never had before that is the ONLY difference as to why the WHO is treating it differently. They simply don't know what it will do in the future and how deadly if at all it may become and IMO that is how they should handle it.
I have heard of many instances where people like the above poster is saying they have never gotten the flu or never had one like this and there is a reason and we should be cognizant of that reason. We have never been exposed to this particular strain before that's why.

Why are all of you assuming the swine flu is death sentence? It has been less lethal than other strains.

Myself and hubby have been recovering after having the worst illness, its been 11 days for myself and Im still not 100% although we didnt visit the doctors I suspect we may have had this Swine flu.

Started with a dry cough and temperature with the cough developing into a real nasty chesty cough, really bad aches and twinges in the ribs and back, sore throat, horrendous nasal crap with sinus pain ( we have gone through tons of loo roll in the past couple of weeks ) and fuzzy head.

Im still here and so is my husband but boy I wouldnt wish this on anyone! Im slightly freaked out tho as ive had 3 chest infections and a secondary infection in the last 6 months and dont know how much more my eight stone frame can take

I saw a story recently (I think in the newspaper) that claimed nobody has yet died from swine flu anywhere, though that is pure crap, because I know that on Canadian native reserves, we've had a lot of swine flu cases, and there have been some deaths, but I think in all cases it was either very young children (like under 10) or senior citizens, both groups of which are more vulnerable to flu even of the normal variety. As long as you're reasonably healthy, and things don't get any worse (like mutations of the virus) you'd probably live if you got the swine flu.

seriously, seriously

TPTB sent him a warning not to blab about the fact that the whole story is true...

Potter who is now headmaster at hogwarts and attends the bohemian grove meetings regularly doesn't want the truth getting out just because he authorized a slanted set of books...

JK Rowlings was actually given very virulent Herpes for admitting Dumbledore was Gay...

See... the truth is allot like the book and Show Wicked...

A whole thing in reality, much Molestation and ... Voldemort was trying to help Potter from the ritual abuse...

I shouldn't say much more...

I just heard an owl

hahaha... seriously though, my 4 1/2 year old and I had it...him worse than me, so we are immune now too....

It seemed aweful at the time, but it has been forgotten now like pretty much any other flu except we don't have to accept the horrible mercury vaccine now.

that what I thought so. I guess it's just FEAR they want to use on the people.

I'm glad to hear some of you recovered. That s good. I felt better after read here.

In our country so far everybody recovered.
It gets complicated if you have some other disease or a weak immune system because of some other condition.

But that`s the case with every disease.

People shouldn`t believe everything they hear.

I caught swine flu a few days after it hit the us, and im fine. I thought i was practically immune to the flu, since i didnt catch any flu virus after 14 years, but I guess i was wrong.

All I did was sleep, and drink liquids.
