It now appears to many ( religious and otherwise ) that the end may in fact be ' nigh ' .
Religious see prophesies coming true, or at least an intolerable amount of Evil.
Non religious see ever - decreasing resources , chemical and biological polution ,
and perhaps genocidal maniacs jockeying themselves to come out on top - or, at least survive in some capacity.
I am not religious, and - in these ( end ? ) times of great stress and distress I myself look back with sadness and even digust at religion and what (
I see ) it has done to us.
I see children dead who would have been saved at any cost - if they weren 't going to a better place, that is. Actually I see everybody who dies at
all these days as potentially dying young... possibly for this reason.
I see unbelievable amounts of time wasted because ' we'll get it right in the next life ' . This may well be the greatest ' drag ' in all of
humanity. The great life - destroying cop out.
I honestly hope that we can all see something great at the end of our lives... but, I fear that the last thing we'll say is something like , ' too
bad we didn't work on the REAL things more...' .
' Too bad we are dying because we focused on fantasy instead of ... '
I am afraid that in my old age, I now view the religious as a bunch of poisonous killers - even though I know they are clueless and therefore
innocent.
