I find it amazing that the death of this talented person can generate literally hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue for the entertainment industry as a whole, and yet, there is a chance that his offspring won't see a dime of it.

Endless productions, the renewal of the rumor mill grinding out anything that the 'fans' can latch on to, legacy album sales, and more.

MJ is still creating a large bounty for some people.

We should let it rest.

I suppose there's a conspiracy in there somewhere, but what it is seems too transient and inconsequential to pursue.

I thought that too. apparently he has a 400 million dollar debt but then I heard this mornign that between neverland and various investments, his estate is actually worth over 1 billion. So there could be something left over.

Janet Jackson will get the royalties and the kids IMHO, although he was close with his mother, he wouldnt let his father anywhere near his children and this would be a product of the mother getting them, which is sad to say as I'm sure she was a good mother.

Also, he'll need to access his money via a trusted friend, now his debts are wiped, he can spend away his royalties.

Expect Neverland ranch to be bought and turned into a theme park in honour of him.

I read claims by some unnamed source that he has 200 unpublished songs that he left to his kids, perhaps that is what the fight is about. Millions can be made from album after his death, Tupac is still making music, I'm sure Michael will be still making music years from now too.

I saw this on one of the news outlets. He doesnt want this music to ever be public. It's for his kids only, but you some greedy person will sue to put it out.Sad really....

I'm having a hard time believing anything the media reports regarding MJ. It's all so contradictory.

I agree, there are so many conflicting media reports about MJ that we really don't know what is going on. I hope what ever happens that those children are taken care of, and not just for any money that they may have access to.

I don't think that those children will have any backlash with their father acting as odd as he did. Now that he is gone people view him a legend. Yet in life, very few would admit they listened to his music and would mock him. Everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon with his death so I don't see there being any backlash to the children as they get older.

the music rights he owns (his, beatles etc) are worth a fortune but, here's the sad part, if you inherit the rights to all that music and you owe $500 million dollars, you have two options. Sell the rights to pay off the debt or whore out the songs, trying to make the money to pay off the debts immediately.

Also, if the rights are worth, say, $500 million, there might be some estate taxes to pay and you cannot transfer ownership from the deceased to the beneficiaries until the taxes and, perhaps other debts, are paid off.

So, the family will wind up with little is my guess because they will be forced to unload the assets to pay the debt and potential buyers will know this and take advantage of it. Paul, time to get your songs back.

Not saying it will happen, but if the family does get good advice and management there probably is a way for the MJ estate to come out on top and in control.

Debt repayment can get negotiated, sometimes reduced. No on can estimate what the music, trademark, carious intellectual properties will be worth with the death of the source. Likely more than anyone bothered to work out.

Hard to say how to best exploit the iconic status and inventory of someone.
Bu there are self-professed experts, and they will be coming out of the woods in a matter of days.

Real Estate property and land rights may be crashing, but no sign of Intellectual Property and Rights are.

MJ had kids? ... I saw pics of the kids on CNN's front page a few days ago .. um .. I dunno about you.. but I have never seen a Black man and a White woman produce children with light brown, straight hair and a fair complexion. They look more Mediterranean than they do biracial.. If I had to guess, I would say they were not his kids at all lol.
