Ok, I honestly have had it up to "here" so to say. Senator this or judge that sleeps with this that and the other and then admits it on t.v to the public day in and day out it seems. I have a few questions for you guys here on ATS.

First off; WHO CARES!?(The wife/husband? Ok that's understandable. American losers that love to pry into others life too i can understand. Before you get mad, I am a somewhat proud American; I just hate celebs, useless drama, gossip, and Hugh Jackman. The latter being a bad scrubs joke, he's actually not that bad...)

Second; As the title would suggest, I am wondering why so many so recently?

Third; What impact would an unfaithful politician play in politics today seeing as most are unfaithful to their word in office anyway? (This holds true for all politicians, especially the presidents we hear lies from every 4 years when the next joker wants to take the country for a spin...)

Fourth; What else has happened on they days that are taken up studying every aspect of the affair? Are they using these affairs as a distraction?

lastly; Not as important but, has anyone else felt like their intelligence has been insulted by these issues? Please dont post just a yes... maybe an example of an issue that insulted your intelligence, and obviously no 9/11 as we all know....

I'm looking for serious answers, i don't want any "I hate them!", "The gov't sucks!", "Obama lied!", "I shaved my cat!" one liner b.s...

Edit made to add a point.

I can only point to time wave zero for an explanation.

the present will have more than all the past combined.

But these guys set themselves up for this, especially this gov. Sanford now straight out admitting he was having an affair. His story was what set me off tonight, after hearing yet another "sex scandal" I was about to blow a gasket.

I guess i can agree with you on the fact that why should anyone care.
Everyone makes mistakes, or if it wasnt a mistake, politicians have lives too and they can decide to what they want to do. If i cheated on my wife would i be put up all over the news? No. People want something to talk about. And since we live in a world where information is instant(internet), it has gotten worse since the old days when there was no such thing and there was less "lazy time". People have gotten lazy and they need something to fill their heads with

I agree that it's mostly related to blackmail. Once these politicians step out of line from the corporate and lobbyist stuff they almost magically get demonized by the media.

So if you have more of this going on, I think it's just that it's being brought into light more often. "The rules" on these politicians are getting more strict. They are simply being replaced more often as dissent increases and the release of blackmail information is part of the standard operating procedure.

Information is desensitizing so I wonder if eventually the blackmail will no longer be such an effective tool for the PTB. Anyone who can put things into perspective will see that being blackmailed is not the end of the world. It's not like they are being accused of murder in these cases.

I'm not going to judge a politician for having an affair, I refuse to. And all the american idol, celebrity gossip types who think they have a say in those people's lives? Well I wouldn't let their opinions bother me if I was one.

It's like Dr. Seuss says.. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”

Why do we really care about these things?

Seriously, These people cheated on their spouses, They didn't Sell weapons to Al-Queada.

They didn't Out one of their own Secret Agents to the world public.

Why are we so obsessed with whether our politicians can do something, that 30-60% of American couples Can's do either?

Doesn't denying someone a job, or firing someone because of problems they are having in their marriage, violate the Equal Employment Act or something?

On top of the posts already made I would simply have to reiterate that this isn't a new occurance. Just more and more are brought to light. Adultry has a well maintained position in places of conceived power. Always has and always will. Plus, it really is a nice way to get people to do what you want them to. Just throw a party. Throw some gorgeous women (or men) at the target with some drinks and let nature take over. Then you have a little blackmail to hold over them and you get this passed and that passed and so on.

But, to your title, this is NOT a new thing. Not at all.
