Obama set up question on Iran from writer

WASHINGTON -- White House officials phoned a blogger from a popular left-leaning Web site on Monday evening to tell him that President Barack Obama had been impressed with his online reporting about Iran. Could the writer pass along a question from an Iranian during the president's news conference on Tuesday?

Of course. The next day, The Huffington Post's Nico Pitney got a prime location in the White House Briefing Room and was the second reporter Obama picked for a question.

"Nico, I know that you _ and all across the Internet _ we've been seeing a lot of reports coming directly out of Iran," Obama said without trying to hide that he knew the crux of the question. "I know that there may actually be questions from people in Iran who are communicating through the Internet. Do you have a question?"

So this is transparency, change, hope and unity?

Obama is ultra-sensitive and likes to play softball.

For a man who has been called charismatic and a gifted orator, his many press conferences have made him look extremely awkward, even though they are highly orchestrated.

Ultimately though, Obama must be judged by the totality of his actions and decisions and their consequences. So far, it is too soon to judge Obama except on the basically inconsequential aspects of his personality and his public presentation.

When Bush was president, the left could not look beyond his human frailties, or more precisely, they refused to look beyond his human frailties to the total effect of his administration and his successes in the war on terror.

This was grossly unfair to not only Bush and his administration, but to our nation. Let us not fall into the same petty practices with the new president.

Time will give us plenty of real issues to criticize. Let us save our energy for those.

Even more surprising than the Huffington staging was the fact that Obama called on Major Garrett from Fox News and preceded to get rather defensive with the questions.

Just another slap in the face to the nation. Obama clearly can't perform off the cuff and must resort to planting a stooge in the press corps.

So Obama's getting a free pass from ATSers on this? No one cares? Or is it just that we have had so much garbage from Obama that this is just one more blown-chunk on a MOUNTAIN of evidence proving that he is not 'change hope unity transparency' ....

The moonbats don't care because Obama is infallible in their eyes. Obama is setting a new low standard for politicians and his followers have all climbed onto his little bandwagon without even batting an eyelash.

Pretty sad. These same folks will call you a racist if you question anything that Obama does or in his case doesn't do.

Yes, just another chunk of garbage on the Obama stink pile.

For myself, I'm not suggesting that Obama should get a free pass over this, but rather that this is not an issue worthy of much discussion because it is in itself inconsequential.

It becomes important only in a constellation of actions and habits that are beginning to characterize his administration.

Obama's press conferences were shocking two months ago. Now, whatever he does is more of the same.

All I'm suggesting is that those of us who can see that the emperor has no clothes should simply wait.

When the inevitable crisis emerges when scripts and staging will be useless, we shall have demonstrated for us the truth and then words will be unnecessary.
