So I got this unsolicited email this morning and I am NOT happy about it. I would like to know how in the world I got on this mailing list. This has a "let's feel good everybody" type theme to it, but personally it makes my stomach churn.

Here is the rest of it:

Dear Friend,

Last week, I announced United We Serve – a nationwide call to service challenging you and all Americans to volunteer this summer and be part of building a new foundation for America.

And when I say “all,” I mean everyone – young and old, from every background, all across the country. We need individuals, community organizations, corporations, foundations, and our government to be part of this effort.

Today, for the official kick off of United We Serve, members of my administration have fanned out across America to participate in service events and encourage all Americans to join them.

The First Lady is rolling up her sleeves and getting to work too. But before she headed out today, she asked me to share this message with you.

**I couldn't get the video to load**

Our nation faces some of the greatest challenges it has in generations and we know it’s going to take a lot of hard work to get us back on track.

While Michelle and I are calling on every American to participate in United We Serve, the call to service doesn’t end this fall. We need to stay involved in our towns and communities for a long time to come. After all, America’s new foundation will be built one neighborhood at a time – and that starts with you.

Thank you,
President Barack Obama

Yes this propaganda started on June 22 and they want everyone to be a good little slave and September 11 is supposed to be a national service day... of course to distract attention from the real truth seekers... 911 truth.

yes, i would be PO'ed too. such evil things to ask for...
madness.

we sghould do the exact opposite. that would show them.
how dare they ask the people to do anything, like that guy famously said, 'ask not what you can do for your country, but what can your country do for you' ... im paraphrasing here, but you get my gist [/sarcasm]

I went nowhere NEAR anything to do with Obama during election time. I supported Ron Paul. Maybe that's why I got the email!

I will NOT be a good little slave.

In essence this is a wonderful concept. If we all became a bit more involved in our communities we could make a big difference. Volunteering is a very good thing for everyone involved, but it should always stay VOLUNTARY!

I am very skeptical of their push for volunteerism with their notion of forced national service. Mandatory volunteering is a misnomer, sadly too many people have too many Obama stars in their eyes to see the danger in this.

It's a bit cheesy but can you imagine the effect if everybody really did pitch in? It wouldn't even need everybody, just half the population would have some massive results

the question is how did you not...

The amount of control our dear President is achieving is scary.

Have you seen all of the information required to "volunteer" and/or submit a "project".

Let's face it -- volunteering is a great thing and more people should do it. Which is all he really needed to say. Period.

Obama, in about 6 months, has sucessfully taken control of and is greatly modifying: banks, autos, healthcare, Wall Street, and now volunteering.

His project, if successful enough, has the potential of actually eliminating some jobs -- not on a huge scale, but I should think the possibility of losing even one job is too many at this point.

I can't wait to see what happens to all of those that don't register and/or participate. And yes, they will know exactly whom all of us are by comparing the registration information against cenus information.

Think I'm just paranoid? Then provide me with one reason why he needs this much control, information, and GPS tracking of everyone in the country?

But once you ask someone to do it...it is no longer volunteerism.

I have volunteered many times in my life. And i have had mixed outcomes from it. I have made good friends, felt good about my efforts, frustrated by the amount of work it was, frustrated for being under appreciated, proud of the outcome...etc. etc. The times when I did not like it...I quit.

Michelle says everyone has to do their part. But is it really everyones duty?

I don't think it is. I hope it remains to be an option and never becomes required. Helping is good...but I think most of the time it is just a way for people to try to make themselves look good and give a little polish to their dismal lives.

If you do volunteer in the next couple of years expect Barry to take responsibility for it in a future state of the union address..."Under my leadership the people of America have performed 1 million hours of community service!"

I wonder, is this how this country got here in the first place? This [snip] you, I only look out for number one which is me attitude.

Slave LMAO, yea helping others is slavery, helping your community is slavery, trying to do good and right by your fellow Americans is slavery.

I guess.

Let's say it like it really is...

F that I am not going to lift a finger to help this country out, I am way to lazy and have my tivo to watch. Do work that I won't get paid for? YOU SICK COMMIE BASTARDS!

For those that want to see where that famous phrase comes from...

If you have credit cards, reward cards from borders, bought anything from a store, sign up for a mailing list, registered voter, have an address, cell phone, ip address, etc in the electronic world, your name is always somewhere. This is nothing new. I saw this commercial the other day too, just kind of laughed. I wouldn't take this too seriously, his backround is a community organizer so he's just playing into his experience. You don't have to do it if you don't want to.

I can not understand why this is such an issue, so you are ASKED to volunteer in your community. I serve/volunteer in my community on many different levels and found that it adds to ones life instead of taking from ones life.

I see and hear people bitch about this issue and most are the same people that a part of the problem. Complain, bitch, moan, and whine, that is all I ever hear these days!

You are probably thinking to yourself, he voted for this administration, well I did not, I am Ron Paul supporter. Please listen to yourselves...become proactive and assist your community and stop being reactive, damn.

Well, I feel better now I got that off my chest

Come on people...we are better than this!

Ciao!

Can I volunteer to punch a Marxist? Wouldn't that be more helpful to the country than picking up trash or whatever the heck the think they can demand? I'll start in DC!

Did I ever mention that I am against volunteerism?? Nope. I was just not happy to have this shoved down my throat. If I want to volunteer I will.

I would like to direct you to the bill HR 1388 that was presented before this SPAM was sent to everyone including those that don't even reside in the U.S.

i was a boyscout (by choice), and was wanting to join the military till i got hurt. since then i have been working on computers and doing random labor work to make ends meet. for the past 3 years I've been building websites. i am just now trying to get my business license so i can finally get my wayupdesigns.com site legit (i know my info is on whois and don't really care if anyone finds me. I'm not some psycho anti-gov whack-job so why should i worry). i have a lot going on in my day even if it doesnt look like it.

on the other hand. i have tons of free time.
step 1. put down the video games and remote, and go outside once in a while. you'll be surprised how nice it is out there. i bet most of you glow in the dark you've been inside hiding from hidden government agents and haarp so long.

step 2. put down the alcohol/drugs and go outside and wash your car (if its legal in your area, although we have had lots of rain so you should be fine), or get your haircut (you look like a scary person) or put down the wall of hate you've built up.

step 3. look at what you CAN do people around you.
i don't see why everyone is SO BLATANTLY adamant against helping the country out a little. if definitely needs it, and if you hadn't been so against everything about it for so long, maybe it wouldn't be in as bad shape as it is today.

i don't want to see people with bar codes being forced to pick up trash (unless they are prisoners with legit crimes--joking btw), but i do want people to stop being such jerks about doing something good once in awhile instead of just being a drain. i know you may say i pay taxes and I'm not a drain. well obviously taxes aren't enough, as you can throw money at a solution all day and never fix it. not until you actually run through it with a fine-toothed comb and pick out every little parasite that is causing the mess.

i think the Obamas (which I'm a Ron Paul supporter, but i will support our president no matter who it is as long as they aren't some crazed dictator, which potus is kinda turning out to be, but we will see) are onto something good here. if you are a lazy POS bum who does nothing but kick kittens and hate on cheerleaders (which are equally as awesome as annoying -- not the kittens mind you), then i say "get outside and do something for someone else other than YOU ya selfish bass turd. it wont kill you, in fact, you might enjoy being something other than the loony with a tin-foil hat. others might like you too, after you take a shower of course.

ill probably get a lot of hate from this, but i don't care. something needs to change, and maybe its not the government, its the citizens. i think if the citizens changed, then the government would have to follow suit and things would go back to normal.

instead of pointing and saying that the masses are the retarded ones, look at yourself and the path you have carved out in your wake. if you haven't done anything, then you are to blame just as much as those who are directly responsible.

i think there's a few things we could do to start changing things here in America. and it could be really simple.

buy bio-degradable products, and dont litter.

don't dump poisons on your yard.

don't willfully buy poisons to put in your body (from soft drinks to drugs).

get out and mingle with everyone you can and offer solutions (dont yell at or call killers, noone responds well to that and you only look psycho) to the best way to get things done.

pick up after yourself.

buy American.

stop driving so much, unless you can use an alternate fuel.

invest your time in your community (you know like they used to before TVs and internet). it doesn't have to be a chore, and you might get to call out the Ahole politicians to their face, instead of through some online outlet that they will never see and no one really cares about. honestly.

for real. it would only take a little, and then we wouldn't have politicians breathing down our necks and trying to force it on us. its the collectives fault for being so damned lazy and wanting everything to happen instantly that has done this to us.

TPTB are just a bunch of idiots anyways. they have all the money in the world, yet they still cant stop us from finding what they are doing. so get out there and challenge them upfront, instead of skulking in the shadows and grumbling at things no one will ever here you grumble about.

maybe its all the incessant whining over why things are happening thats getting to me, or maybe its the nanobot brain-washing bugs i drank with my starbucks coffee drink from the gas station this morning, but this campaign for volunteers is a sign that people need to start doing something, before we dont have a voice at all and are forced to do the work still.
