That is right. Also, so they can know how to control you and keep you in their grip. We feed the machine of the Government-Corporate complex that lives on our data collection. It is the strategy of the Overlords of this Earth's humanity and what David Icke calls the other dimensional reptilians. This is also the idea behind the Matrix movie, that we are feeding the machine until eventually it strangles us and controls us.

Because of the War on Information, my friend. They want to 'get to know you' so they know how to defeat you.
agencies like the NSA are notorious for this kind of data mining technology, and try to amass this information as a means of knowing the public's pulse.

How can you stop feeding the machine though? Western governments seem to surpress any form of protest against national databases. In the UK, a biometric identity card is being brought in. It isn't clear who can access the information, it seems we can't even look at our own records. Whats to stop something like that man being arrested upon touchdown in Miami over supposed debts on the other side of the world?
I don't think that there is a way to stop the acceleration of our information technology, it is just the way our society is heading. I think it is better to realize that information is being collected about all of us most of the time whether we like it or not and to use that understanding to make better choices to be free from the machine.
