An 11-year-old Wearside boy has been charged with raping a boy.

The youth from Houghton-le-Spring, near Sunderland, is accused of attacking the boy on 8 June.

What is wrong with kids today.
First a 12 year old and now an 11 year old doing practically the same act.

When I was 11 and 12 I was interested in computer games, toys and kicking a ball about with my friends.
Sex wasn't even something I considered with a girlfriend, a kiss and a cuddle was as far as it went.
Sure I wasn't abused but I sometimes wonder if abuse is always a part of sexually active kids, was the kid who became a dad at 12 (which turned out it wasn't his but he must have been sexually active) abused? Apparently not.
I may have lived under a rock but I don't recall anyone around that age (and I had many friends) who was interested in experimenting and none of us even mentioned sex, not because it was embarrassing or anything, we just wasn't interested.
Times are different, I sound old I know.

I don't even know what to say about these stories anymore. It was bad enough when adults were raping people, but know we have children raping children ! Four teenage boys raping another boy with hockey sticks, in school, for two months , a twelve yr old raping a 4 yr old and then trying to rape his own 3 yr old brother

What the hell is going on??? My God the whole damn world is going madd

When my friends and I were that age we weren't considering sex either, but i was born in 61' and we weren't exposed to sex like these kids are today. Just turn on the tv, radio, heck even the video games and you'll see why they're thinknig about sex at such a young age. Everywhere these kids look they see some kind of sexual inuendo being forced into their young minds

I don't think the culture has anything to do with it. I think sexually active boys want to get their roxx off. Nothing earth-shattering or new about that.

I wonder if any of these

Me.

How can he try and rape his own brother?? By age 11, heck by age 8 you sort of understand NOT to touch other kids in those places. This 11yr old must be pretty messed up mentally.

Children raping children, It's weird.
I wonder if there's a link between growth hormones fed to livestock and this behavior?

You might be onto something there with the growth hormones issue. When I was in 5th grade. Oh, so long ago it was. The girls in my grade were all flat chested, except for one girl who had a hint of breasts. Later on in a few years they became humongous. But in my granddaughter's 5th grade graduating class, most of the girls have quite observable breasts, including my granddaughter. And, many of them are as tall as their teachers. Some even taller. And, in the lunch room there WAS a poster on the wall, advertising Got Milk?", that showed an obviously developed, yet, maybe preteen girl with milk around her mouth, her tongue suggestively sticking out, in a suggestive pose and wearing skimpy clothes. I complained wholeheartedly to the schools office personnel and the poster was taken down the next day. Maybe I overstepped my boundaries, but this sort of sexually suggestive ad has no place in an elementary school. IMO.

Guys, get it into perspective. There's no reason at all to believe that this isn't something that has happened since we've been on this planet. It isn't a sign of society falling apart at the seams. It's horrendous and appeals to deep instincts to protect children and punish their attackers. I've worked with several children in the past that are on the sex-offenders register for life. Offenses involving rape of boys and girls and one that used a claw-hammer on two girls in their garden. With one exception, they seem different to other kids or adults. It's like there's no light inside them.

Make no mistake, this kind of offense happens frequently and all over the world. Now and then the media decides to pick a story and run with it. I think screw the media. As long as offenders are treated or dealt with by appropriate agencies so they can't or won't reoffend, we're protecting our children. Media interpretations rarely help, although those that failed to act for Baby P would still have jobs without the media uproar.
