weird Creature (Photo)

I just found this on the Pravda website









What could it be? It looks like a love child of a horseshoe crab and a face hugger from Alien.

The tail is different. Have you seen both pictures?

It certainly looks like it but how big is it? The one in my pic seems bigger and less translucent.

Sure looks the same as this creature......... here's an upside-down view:

As an aside, I think it's kinda cool that "alien" is in part of its name

That one is in a petrie dish so much smaller. Do they get this big?

They can grow up to about two inches. I'm positive that is what is in the picture. They get more opaque with age.

They're the same organism, haha. "Triops" or "tadpole shrimp"

They don't grow much past two inches, maybe three. I've heard them get up to 5 inches. They only live for a relatively short time. All of the larger similar species are extinct.

At the bottom of that article are some board postings, and a couple of the posters say things that indicate that they believe the triops in question is much smaller than the photo indicates.
