The technology is no where near being close enough for that, its about .5% of where it would need to be. And this isn't a game last I read, its a tech demo. "Milo" was just following a script, so it might seem impressive, but if the actor wasn't there and it was a normal person, it probably wouldn't even work.

And a kid that wants friends that can't find any.....should get some! Its really not that hard to find other socially inept people.

Once you realize the truth, that the entire "conversation" was actually pre-scripted interplay you'll realize how unimpressive the demo actually is. The girl is an actress reading a script too.

The Milo character's actions/words/emotions are all scripted and the only interaction going on is that the computer is waiting for the actress to say keywords so that the Milo character can then proceed to the next pre-programmed acting sequence.

Bingo. People that have no idea how it works are impressed, but it really isn't anything special atm. Instead of pressing "A" after a sentence now you're saying "Yeah, lets going fishing".

It's always the kids doing something wrong...before games, it was alcohol and drugs...and before that...well, that is pretty much history right there.

Poison is good in small dosages...keeps your body ready to fight when something major happens.

My point? Almost everything on earth can be fun and healthy for you, as long as you do not abuse it.

I agree with you completely. People give up so much freedom and trust blindly in the name of a game or good clean fun.

Can't you picture congress wanting each welfare recipient to have this as part of our socialized programs the progressives want? Keep tabs on you, making sure you exercise daily, keep your weight down, are not in emotional distress...etc, etc, etc...since the state is paying for your healthcare and food...you must do your part and we can not trust you so we must watch you do it. If you do not exercise 30 minutes a day on a government approved system you lose your benefits or will be taxed an extra $2000 (just seeing what is down that slippery slope.....).

I know the cost involved in such a crazy argument...an xbox in every home, but look what they just did with digital tv. In one or two generations I can see this becoming commonplace in every home. I can picture this used in class rooms too. An interactive virtual teacher who never breaks school district codes, never freaks out, never is inappropriate, never veers off approved curriculum (Not to mention no need for dental, medical or salary benefits!).

It is right out of George Orwells book 1984. Chapter One, part 3, Remember a whistle would sound and the telescreen would direct required exercise? Winston was required exercise daily in front of the television and if he did not do his required exersises Winston was chastized? They could see everyone through the screen and kept tabs of everyone that way, the totalitarian state.

I really dislike all of these creepy spying peripherals which we're getting through Skyboxes and videogame consoles. Especially since they're designed to figure out our emotional state, it's gone even further than Orwell could have known, the difference is that we're agreeing to it rather than being forced into it.

It's not helped by the ignorant kids who think this spying hardware is the coolest thing they ever saw. Spying technology is just normal to them. They're all using laptops which permanently have a camera pointing at their face, with integrated microphones which you cant even see. They're using websites like Facebook which is basically a social profiling website, they input every aspect of their personal life into these sites, without any care at all for their personal privacy.

That's great some parent will be ignoring their real kid to play with "Milo". Sad.
Children have so much to compete with already : jobs, errands, business out of town, now they will have to compete with a game child. Awful!
