UFO-obsessed British hacker fights extradition to US

LONDON (AFP) — A Briton accused of hacking into NASA computers should not be extradited to the US due to his mental health, a lawyer said Tuesday, adding that he was eccentric and "passionate" about UFOs.

Gary McKinnon, 42, could spend life in prison if convicted by a US court of gaining access to 97 computers in 2001 and 2002 in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Ol Gary is still fighting his extradition. This last ditch effort has him claiming that he has aspergers. I feel sorry for the guy, as this impending possibility of a life sentence is far greater punishment than he deserves for simply being a curious ass, to say nothing of an actual US conviction. You will notice that as of right now there doesn't seem to be an American source for this news. I guess if this subject is just too "real" for the American populace; it might wake us up.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope he isn't extradited, as it seems the punishment in the UK would be nothing more than a stern talking too.
