I thought this was pretty funny. I'm not sure exactly where to post this so I chose Science and Technology. Seemed fitting maybe not?
I especially liked some of the comments.

"This is silly. By that mentality, I should be able to sue Chrysler for not selling the old style Wrangler..."

Claims Microsoft abandoned older OS to force users to buy Vista

Computerworld - Russian antitrust regulators are investigating Microsoft's retirement of Windows XP and could file formal charges as early as next month, according to a government statement on Thursday.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) accused Microsoft of abusing its dominant position in the operating system market by pulling Windows XP from retail in June 2008, thus forcing users to buy Vista -- even though demand for the former remained high.

Maybe they still don't get how things work on this side?

What were they expecting from a company like MS? The thing is, if i own a company and i have a new product i want to sell, of course i will get rid of the old one, from the point of view of MS or any other company or business, that's perfectly normal or isn't?

How this has something to do with antitrust is beyond me..

Haha, it wouldn't surprise me if Microsoft went bankrupt in a couple of years for the excessive amount of charges it would have to pay from antitrust regulation.

I bet that when Windows 7 will be released, we will see companies accusing Microsoft for even the most stupid reasons.

We all know ms sells stuff with flaws, so you will buy the new stuff.

If that is not a court case what is?

Any software has issues. Name one that doesn't need a patch, Extensions or whatever the developer calls it.

That is like there being an abundance of Ferrari's but they force us to buy POS Ugo's........Vista Crashes everything ........XP is solid.....The best and most user friendly interface and OS ever.....

They just want to recoup on their losses before Microsoft 7 or whatever it is called comes out in the very near future...........

Nope, i think the point was that, even if XP is better than Vista, it has flaws on its own, same as Linux, Mac OS, FreeBSD, etc etc.

Just a few days ago i installed sp3, nothing worked anymore, could not connect to the net, the language bar disappeared to never come back, i need that to test keyboard layouts on a new app i'm writing, bad luck, then, i uninstalled sp3, the language bar didn't come back, i can connect to the net, but a few things did not return to its previous state, every piece of software has flaws, always.

The original comment was that ms adds bugs to Vista and XP so that people have to upgrade to Windows 7, but that is not the case, each and every software ever made by Microsoft has bugs, it always has and it always will.

And the same goes for any other software company, all (including Mac OS) deliver updates once in a while, it just happens that ms delivers as if they were the newspaper, every morning for sure

Mac OS has its 'service packs' too, make a clean Linux installation, then run the package manager, and be sure there will be tons of updates that need to be downloaded before you can have the os up to date, that's something nobody can avoid.

I have had Windows 98 running on this puter for the last 10 years and have had no major problems with it.... All the updated versions that came out after that did havoc with most of the music programs I run so just went back to 98

Kickin it old skool style..... lol

I read about your post about XP SP3 giving you troubles. Here's my take on it. Ever since Vista came out, I've lost hope for any new MS releases including SP3.

Still using Windows XP SP2 32 bit on my brand new computer without any problems!!! I know Vista and it's a terrible OS if you are especially performance-oriented!! I was supposed to buy a new laptop but when I found out, none were able to fully support windows XP due to all drivers only available for Vista, I have to forget it and stick with my old laptop.

So I agree with the Russians, MS has to pay for forcing consumers to buy defective gadgets (anything with Vista are automatically defective!)

I had this problem could not get a copy of XP pro so I bought Vista used it for a year then it deleted my hard drive due to a still unacknowledged error from Microsoft that has happened to thousands of people.
So I removed it, sold it, and got a good non virus ridden pirated version of XP Pro SP2.
I hope they sue MS.
