An Evident Conspiracy to Deceive Us All

A few years after the war in Iraq had been going I decided to look at Iraq with Google Earth. I was amazed at the destruction that I saw. Sunken ships littered the Tigris River. Highways showed bomb marks from battles. Oil wells on the Kuwait border were still on fire. The media had not informed me of all that had gone on there. I saw it with my own eyes through Google Earth. Then they did some more censoring. No longer could I see the lines of people waiting at gas stations. I could almost see the anger on their faces before.
Last week I put in the coordinates I saw on Utube. They were from some footage shot from an Apache helicopter as it shot anti tank rounds at people. The display coordinates took me 20 km west of the city in the video. Things have been changed. Cities that were once visible are now replaced with a generic looking landscape. All the interesting things I had seen before have been censored. I suppose this is in order to protect the troops operating in this area.
Who controls what is censored on Google Earth? What do you know about things being covered up or moved? Even area 51 seems to have been moved. This is a real conspiracy to deceive. I would also like to know why that guys car is parked at my girlfriend’s house on the date that evil, lying Google feeding satellite passed over.

It really doesn't surprise me that there is a Google Earth conspiracy. Isn't Google part owned by the CIA?

How do you think it would put lives in danger? and how often do you think it is updated there? My area on Google Earth is about 3 or 4 years old.

I actually reinstalled Google Earth yesterday and Area 51 was one of the first things I searched. To me it looked like it was still in the same place, but I don't look at coordinates or anything like that.

It doesn't surprise me that some areas of destruction have been censored. It would have been nice if there were some before and after screenshots as proof of it though. I guess we'll never know.

Im not sure about now, but a few months back I was looking at Iraq and there were many areas that were blacked out. Maybe this was some sort of malfunctions, privacy, or a conspiracy. Theres no telling.

I'm not sure exactly what you are saying. Are you implying that the level of destruction is no longer apparent at the same locations?

Having been there in '05 and again in '07 I can tell you that an INCREDIBLE amount of reconstruction has taken place.

Google Earth is in no way owned by the CIA. But seeing as how Google doesn’t own any Satellites they must get their data from sources that do i.e. the alphabet soup...
DIA, NASA, USGS etc.

Do you have any coordinates for these alleged blacked out areas?

Nah. At the time I didnt pay it no attention until now while reading this thread. This was around christmas time. I doubt that it is the same.

I suppose if a person or entity wanted to have something removed from the Google Earth database they could pay Google Earth. It would be interesting to find out the price. It would also be interesting to see how the owners of Google Earth were intimidated or convinced to censor for the USA. I would think that somone on here had some information but we all seem to be in the dark on this. There must be some department that has control over censorship. I want to do some digging but I fear the truth may be dangerous to my health.

Google earth doesnt take pictures daily you know? You are not gonna get cutting edge brand new stories from it.

Any aerial photograph is subject to censorship. My brother did an engineering project for school. They made a type of "weather" balloon and launched it for altitude and stability. They attached a camera to be able to judge their success. The balloon took about 20 minutes to reach somewhere around 100,000 ft.

They watched it live as it went up, but they immediately had to turn over the taped version to the FAA (part of the permit of the flight), who forwarded it to whatever authority controls those things. When they got it back, it was edited down to 8 minutes.

Someone found "confidential or sensitive" information on 12 of 20 minutes of their flight.

60% of grainy amateur footage from a spinning balloon was edited.

Now this was near Cape Canaveral, but if a balloon and simple camera is this tightly controlled, imagine how strict they are on satellite images uploaded to the web!!!!

Wow, great info. I never realized how sensitive our topography was to national security. It seems like wasted effort on the part of the goverment as we can photograph clandestinly with minimal effort.

Well, most of Google Earth's images don't come from satellites, a lot of weather satellites don't have the imaging ability necessary to take pictures of cities, and you also have to factor in cloud cover, time of day, weather, ect.
A lot of the images come from planes instead.

From there, you will also have the governments of countries who will themselves put a limit on what can be shown. It's why a lot of military bases are blurred out.

Then there are areas that aren't filled in, or updated often because there's just little reason to. Places like the more rural parts of the States for example.

Correct, and the flight was from US soil, and pictures of US soil, so I don't know the implications internationally (i.e. censoring Iraq), but the shear amount of censoring was staggering.

I don't think the FAA did the censoring, they simply issued the permits, and acted as a pass-through. I am assuming some military or intelligence establishment did the censoring. It took about 4-weeks for the tape to be returned.

One can draw the analogy to Google Earth though. All foreign and domestic governments are defending against spying at all times. There are spy satellites and planes in the air at all times, so it is fairly certain that GE is being scrutinized over and over by the intelligence community of all nations, and things are consistently being removed either by request, money, or threat.

Just imagine the money being made by Google Earth. It would all be under the table I suppose. I gotta get into the cover-up biz.
