Our healthcare is absolutely shocking as it is already!

Top healthcare from NIB and Medibank....12 months wait for major dental like a root canal

I called up NIB and asked them about this, I explained..

"Do you understand, that if in 3 months from when I get my medical with you, and I get a tooth infection, and need a root canal, I could possibly DIE from the infection if I have to wait 12 months ?

Answer: Yes well, thats how it is with all private healthcare

South Africa has better private healthcare then Australia.

In S.A I had private health cover...paid a pretty penny for it, but after 6 months I could claim away almost as I pleased, I could walk into a private dentists office, pay the man, and claim the full amount back in one month...

Then i'll even get 10 - 20% off on the total cost.

Or if i wanted I could just put it straight on my health cover and not pay a penny, but then I pay the full amount.

What is the point of having private health care in Australia if all minimum waiting periods are up to 2 monts ??

What i start getting heart palpatations and then get told....

Well sir, you could get treatment straight away if you pay out your own pocket, or you could wait 2 months...possibly die, but hey, if you make it for 2 months your covered!

Makes me sick

1st world my ass!!

I understand exactly where your coming from, but there are still those that need this system.
The point is that we are still receiving this care and it should be something that all people across the earth should have.
No insult meant, but we dont want to end up the way the American's are, by having to stitch ourselves up or pay thousands of dollars for a basic fix me up..... Like a broken arm and so on.

But I also relate to you with regards to the insurance companies as well. We personally are experiencing great difficulty with claims. My husband has been a policeman for 20 years, and he has had half his face ripped of, been beaten to the edge, he has been hit with metal objects all over his body, and stabbed and pricked with needles, and this is just a few. But in doing this for our society, the Insurance companies just dont want to pay up or help out. And if they do they still manage to stuff it up no end.... Yes we have a lot to fix with regards to the system, but at least we still have it and those that do need it can use it.

See, the government wants to take as much from us as they possibly can, while giving back the absolute bare minimum.

So I see no good outcome to this situation.

At least they are only talking 5 possibly 10 years from now.

Better save up to get that private cover.

So basically I get to pay for someone else to go to the hospital then I get to pay for myself when I need to get treatment. Boy I love being billed twice for a service it really makes me feel special. I can't wait till this passes and all the mindless idiots out there will get what they asked for. Can You imagine all the crying and whining that they will be doing when of healthcare goes to total crap and they have to wait 12 months for a root canal. I mean seriously most minor medical care at a dentist or a doctor is not to expensive its the stinking insurance thats a joke.

its the baby boomers pure and simple -

These people had subsidised loans for housing, free education, free health, free everything and have taken it all away from the next generation in order to pay for their retirement and health -

Sickens me to the core.

Rather sad really.
I know people get upset over the fact that they have to pay for medicare, but there are people out there that do need our support and its our duty as citizens to support them (what if you ended up down and out for whatever reason).
But, yes it all again comes down to greed.
Its no longer look after the people of our countries, its... lets see how much we can screw them over before they do anything.
This is one of many things to come really. And all I have to say about this is roll on 2012 Dec 21.

The Medicare system has been abused for years.

Not only by foreigners getting operations and almost free medications using a relatives Medicare card who is a resident, but also by the medical profession itself.

Instead of doing away with it altogether, they should audit the system and press criminal charges against those who have defrauded it.

When they have cleared out the fraudulent bulging excess, they then could limit the number of free doctors visits per year per person and also the amount of free medications. Anything above that should come from a persons pocket.

I also believe that the recent baying about Australia having to spend more on defence has something to do with it.
Strangely enough, I said to my partner when I heard this, there goes Medicare.
And sure enough, it looks like i might be right.
Dismantle Medicare to pay for Defence.

Next will be Welfare gone so Australia can amass all the warfare hardware, with the profits of that going to the usual suspects.
