To be honest ( make that Hopeful) nothing is going to happen, we all think about WTSHTF as something really , really bad, like alien invasion , solar
flare wiping out all electics, armed invasion, nuclear war , bio attack even my favorite zombie infestation.
I live in south London/ Surrey area and have scouted the lay of the land down here, and have realised that in the UK there is very little space should
we all have to leave the cities for whatever reason. there are virtually no forests ( of a large enough size) , the land sort of goes, cities for
miles , road with shops and houses, bit of green , like a small park, TOWN, road, TOWN, a small field, TOWN. get the drift yet?
Most people will follow the main roads and motorways and thats where the biggest jams will be , learn the ratruns and find the open spaces to the
sides of the routes you wish to take should you have to.
I went to the south coast a couple of weekends ago and WOW what a difference from the main roads. Lots of open fields , and at one junction there was
more rabbits than I counted the whole of last year sat on the grass enjoying the sun.
I'd recommend , from a bikers point of view , when your old enough or even now learn the skills to ride a motorcycle properly and safely, heck anyone
can and should learn that, it evens makes you a safer car driver. Learn small and then get bigger as you get more experience and invest in an
'offroad'/ adventure bike. ( a piece of advice here , is buy a clapped out old off roader, and rebuild it, they're cheap enough if you find one you
might like, rebuilding it gives you the skills to keep it going, my advice is not buy any books for it, but learn as you experiment with what goes
where. I buiilt up bike from a rolling chassis and the engine for that came in 3 boxes, I got it running and ridaeble - priceless)
A bugout bag is essential these days, as you never know what event can/may/wil happen, even if its a solar flare or total economic collapse ,people
will start to panic , as they are out of their comfort zones and most do not have the survival skills and will rely on the Government to bail them
out, but to be honest , the Government wil be looking out for themselves and their families first before looking after you. Self reliance is paramount
in any event .
You can turn your 'recon' into a fun outing , I take my wife out all the time on the bike , we aim to go somewhere and as we are travelling I check
out what's available, I know there are 2 gun shops within easy reach and on the way to the south coast area, plus where there are supermarkets and
wholesalers, most people in 'chaos' will run to their local supermarkets to loot the shelves there or their local high street, as you travel look
for the smaller back street isolated cash and carry's or 'specialist' shops Like 'Wing-Yip' ( a local Chinese takeaway suppliers).
As other people have suggested stick to schooling as present , DO NOT get paranoid as it will only affect your life now, Be prepared incase, its
better to have the equipment and have no need for it than to have the need for it but no equipment.
And at 14 you can call it your' adventure bag / camping gear' should your parents ever worry about it.
DO NOT have any large knives hanging around the place as your parents may get worried and think your part of a gang . Take archery lessons , go
camping with your friends to get them and yourself acclimatised to it, that way you can find out which friends would be a reliable source of company,
you may even find one or two that think the same as yourself.
Find other local survival groups or people, ubut IMO most important of all other than the equipment you can gather is the knowledge you can get
together, the attitude to 'be prepared' and the positiveness of thinking you can handle it would make it easier should any event kick off.
If you need anymore advice U2U me and I can point you at a site I frequent ful of likeminded individuals.
All the best, Plan for the worst, hope for the best, that way if the worst happens your prepared and expecting it. If the best happens you'll be
pleased.
