(DOR) Conversation With Myself

"Hey, What the ... this is my old room!" "Who ARE you?"
"I'm you, Oh Wow!" "You are me, it's like looking into a mirror."
"What's the date?" "It's October 6, 1987." "Noooooooo way!!! I was in October 2010."
"How did you get here?" "I Don't know, I was walking down the beach and then there was a blinding flash of light, when my vision returned, I was here."
"Impossible!" "But, it's not, I'm here, aren't I?"
"I have to be hallucinating!" "DON'T TOUCH ME!"
"WHY?" "I don't know if that whole theory on matter taking up the same space is true or not."
"What does That mean?" "If you touch me, we could both cease to exist."
"Okay. So time travel is possible, excellent!" "Yes, it would seem so, but it wasn't anything I chose"
"What do you think happened? Are there any experiments going on near where you were?"
" Not that I am aware of, that's for sure!" "Wierd!"

"Oh tonight you're going to a concert, aren't you?" "Yeah I am. I was getting ready just now."
"I remember. I was wondering could I go in your place?" "why would you want to do that?"
" Just to see him again,one last time." "You mean Jake?"
"Yes."
"But how do you know he'll even be there? "
"Hello, This IS MY past,too!" "Oh Yeah, right. So I, I mean, we don't end up with him?"
"Well I know I don't,I am not too sure about you."
"But, you are me."
"That's true, but I don't know if it's another timeline that's similar to mine or if it is in fact, my own timeline."
"What do you mean?"
"Well there are several theories on time travel, one being that you aren't actually in your own timeline, but you'd be in another that was very similar, but has a different outcome or even the same outcome, but it's just slightly different. Then another says you could be on your own timeline, but events are set so you could not change anything, because if you did, something else would interfere."
"So you can't change anything?" "No."
"So why do you want to go then, anyway?"
" I told you, to see Jake one last time. To relive a memory, because it's fading."
"But, you said it yourself, my outcome could be different, right?"
"Right." "So, you could change it for me?"
"No, not at all." "Why not?"
"Because whatever is meant to happen in this timeline, will happen despite anything I may do to try and change it, if it wasn't meant to be, something else would interfere, or it could just create another timeline, but you in this timeline will still be without him."
"So it depends on what is supposed to happen in this timeline?"
"Yep." "And how do you know what that is? How do you know you won't screw it up tonight?"
"Because the law of the universe, I will be compelled to follow a certain path, I mean did you think I wanted to let Jake go in my timeline?"
"No." "No I didn't, but I was compelled to follow a certain path even though with every fiber of my being I wanted to shout how much I didn't want this."
" I see, So no freewill."
"Not in this scenario, I'm afraid, not when it comes to messing with time."
"So how will I have a memory of the night if I let you go in my place?"
" I promise I will tell you everything, I know it won't be the same, but you will see him many more times, it's just this night is very special to me, and there's something that I need to search for in his eyes. And that's the main reason I want to do this."
"So I guess you can't even be sure if I have the same future?"
"Nope."
"Too bad, but at least I know I still look fairly young at..?"
"38"; "38, wow, I am a lucky girl, *giggle*"
" so will you let me go in your place?"
"I guess so."
"Great, thank you."
"you're welcome."
"So If you don't know how you got here, then how do you suppose you will get back to where it is you're from?"
"Oh no, I hadn't thought of that."
"Will you be able to go back?"
"I don't know, but I hope if it was an experiment then when they shut the experiment down I will be back where I came from instantly, that's one theory."
"And what's the other?"
"If it's metaphysical, then I would be transported back when I have finished what I was sent here for."
"And what's that?"
"Well I am hoping it was for answers, and that is what tonight is about, so after I tell youabout the events of the night so you'll have the memory, then I will be sent back to where I belong."
"what if it was some natural thing, like a spontaneous portal?"
"Well, then I have nothing to worry about, because all spontaneous time travel stories I have heard, they simply spontaneously ended, sending the person back to the place they belonged."
"There are stories like that?"
"Yeah, some, on the internet."
"The what?"
"Nevermind."
"Oh You can't say, right?"
"Right."; "Okay, that's all good, but what if it is an experiment and it gets shut down, but you don't end up being sent back where you belong?"
"Then I will be stuck here for good, I guess."
"What will you do then?"
"I really hope it doesn't come to that." "Oh it's already 5pm, I have to get ready!"
"So you aren't worried that you might be stuck here?"
"I am, but if I am not stuck here, then time might be of the essence."
"That's true."
"Ok, I will see you when the night is over."

I have conversations with myself to and they go nothing like that. For fear of bandemnation I'll keep the words of sickness inside of my head.

What I wouldn't give to go back and see myself at 17 and just knock some sense into my younger self!

I enjoyed the premise and the story very much my friend, I hope you do well in the contest.
