Breaking News

12:46pm UK, Tuesday June 02, 2009
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith is to leave the Cabinet in the wake of the scandal over MPs' expenses, according to Sky sources.

There is no indication yet that Ms Smith will also step down as an MP.

YES...YES.... YES...

Oh how sweet it is.. !!!!

A real big 'thumbs up' to those who exposed these criminals and their expenses claims..

I am sure that many, many people (in particular all those involved with NO2ID) are jumping for joy over this news..
All of these MP's should be charged with fraud, sacked from their positions and never allowed to work in politics again.

So nice to see Smith getting a bit of punishment..

Just makes you wonder which other snake in the grass is gonna replace her though..

It is a shame that people like this only have to resign for "justice to be served". In my opinion, she should be sitting in jail along side all of the other corrupt politicians.

I will only be happy when they are hung, drawn and quatered, or at least beaten then thrown in prison.

I have hated this stupid cow for a long time, and would pay to see someone knock some sense into her.

Remember she has not quit just yet.

Comments like that could have her sending the gestapo to you door

I would not get carried away. They always do this and there is a conveyor belt of these people just waiting, to come in and run and ruin life's.

Why is everyone so happy, we all know that there are more jackbooted thug wannabees, there to take her place. This is like the left right thing, where they just change a few and pretend everything is alright again.

Love to see that women leave everything that has to to with politics!

I followed with interest the havoc Jacqui Smith and her group made in the European Parliament, and I knew that this lady had 'problems' printed all over her!

Was then terrified on behalf of my English friends, to see her end up in the Home Office as Sec, and thought: this is not going to end well for the English people!

I hope that she retire now! and please don't send her back to the European Parliament!

Europe will do so much better without her!

Stepping down from the cabinet is not going far enough. I also hear that it's rumoured Alistair Darling is to be replaced as Chancellor too after being caught up in the expenses scandal. They should be kicked out immediately with loss of ALL benefits such as MP's pension instead of being allowed to step down at the next election, after picking up a windfall payment.
That is the real sore point here, none of them are being penalised in any meaningful way, apart from volunteering to pay back money they have fraudulently claimed.

The whole bunch of them are doing a good job of discrediting themselves and the entire political process without any real outside help. Still, it would be nice to see some of them being prosecuted. I hear they still have the original chopping block on display in the Tower of London!

I agree and it's only 12 months till we have a general election when Cameron and his little gang of ex Etonians get in. we'll soon be doffing our caps to our new leaders.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Another nail in the coffin for a party who have been in power too long.

Everything this woman has been involved in has been bad news for a lot of people, and her public image is very very bad for the Labour Party at the moment - shes looked out of her depth for a long time.

I expect Darling to go as well in the next few days.

Brown is going to be very harshly judged in the locals & europeans this week I think, and that could even lead to a leadership bid, because Labour is running out of ideas, popularoty and - more importantly - time before a General Election is due.

We live in interesting times.

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Mr Bob Sir, I like the cut of your gib

My favourite smith moment was her triumphant declaration the streets of south london were safe, as she had bravely ventured for a kebab...........only for it to emerge she had her police protection with her

New Labour/New Tory, there are no real significant differences in policy or outlook

At least with some evil political tyrants you know what your getting.

With this lot its sneaky, conniving, arrogant, lying, thieving.... pretending to be for the people while cheating us all.

Sickening.

I posted this in another thread earlier;

A National Holiday should be announced and it shoud be mandatory that everyone get's absolutely deliriously happily drunk as the proverbial in celebration of such wonderful news.

The only problem is that they will just get another clone like, self-serving, corrupt, career politician who will just blindly follow party line rather than the interests of his / her constituents to replace her.

All 646 MP's should resign and stand for re-election on non-party aligned manifesto's aimed at putting the care's and concerns of their constituents first.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

All I can say is....mission accomplished, great night....whilst outside smoking in the glorious sunshine I had the delight to explain to a Labour party worker who was delivering euro election material why we were having such a good time in my pub.
She was not too pleased, lol.

Hazel Blair has also resigned as from today as Community Secretary. Good another fraudster has gone, pitty they all cannot leave, and let us the people decide whom we want to represent us in Parliament.

Communities Secretary Hazel Blears has resigned from the cabinet, increasing pressure on UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown ahead of Thursday's elections.

4 other ministers have resigned from the Government office also. This Government is going down the drains. Who else is there to elect inplace off Labour? Conservative party?? Umms no thanks after what they done during the thatcher years, Hell will freeze over first before I ever vote Tory.
