Ok North Korea, keep launching missiles and keep rising tensions, furthering yourselves into an armed conflict. I mean come on enough is enough already, why does the world community keep letting this happen? all their doing is attempting to blackmail some sucker (Obama?) into submission to receive more aid, aren't TPTB getting tired of this? When will they start putting their actions where their mouth's are? Soon I hope because this is getting really old really fast.And it is speculated that thie TP2 could theoretically be capable of hitting targets in the the U.S, hello! North Korea was also strengthening its defenses and conducting amphibious assault exercises along its western shore — possible preparations for skirmishes at sea, reports said. South Korea deployed a guided-missile, high-speed boat to the area to stamp out any provocations, the navy said.

I don't think their sabre-rattling is anything to be concerned with at the moment. If the U.S. were to emplace a naval blockade then we will see some action. It's a trap in waiting.

I wonder what will happen if North Korea tries to take one of the disputed islands? That SHOULD be enough provocation to merit a military response but I still think that TPTB would choose to wait it out. I still think that anything short of a direct attack on South Korean mainland, Japan or the US will not get a military response.

What people want to make sure and understand - before making any decisions here is we quite possibly could be dealing with a whole new entity here.

Theres nothign to fear from N Korea. If people would just ignore them this would actually go away. They want more stuff so they rattle their sabres. They know the instant they launch anything at anyone theyd be extinct. It also looks like the west wants to make them look pretty crappy so that they can invade them. It would allow the US to have another base next to Russia.

NK is no threat

You are thinking it's a threat because of the way the news is being presented to you.

It's just like Israel saying every 3years or so that Iran is a MAJOR threat.

My concern here in the present state of things is that we no longer have Jimmy Carter or Albirght to go over there and "smooth" things over, coming out of the Bush administration's harsh stance and verbal bashing of the North. Diplomatic options have failed as we see an ever increasing escalation, coupled with the appointment of the third son to power. North Korea has always been defiant in the face of opposition by the west, so therefore any further sanctions will only result in further actions by the North.

Since positioning weapon delivery systems speculated to be able to strike targets in the continental U.S is a clear threat to national security, I believe a proactive approach rather then a reactive one should be considered. How long will the sanctions, naval blockades and such remain effective? Does the Obama administration need to cave in and offer aid to deter further missile launches? If so then how long will that last? More importantly why keep giving them what they want, what about what the world community wants? North Korea has a right to a weapons program, but not one that threatens peace in the region.

During the Clinton administration, military action was strongly considered and if not for the efforts of former President Jimmy Carter, that very well could have become a reality. At this point North Korea is very unpredictable as well as unstable, that being said, how best to deal with a potential enemy that has continually violated agreements, advanced their nuclear weapons program and demanded "pay offs" in order to keep peace. IMO, this cycle will only continue unless strong action is taken.
