“You think [they] care about you like I do”? “You think [they] worry about you like I do”? “We both know they don’t”. “Ever since Helen left you, I’ve been it, all that can see and hear”.

“Do you love me”? “Do you”? “No, you have ruined me”. “I have made you better, and guided your path”.
“Don’t think for one second that you would be better off without me”. “One second, try every waking moment”. “So be it, I’ll never go away, I’ll be with you always”. “No you won’t”! “I’ll leave” “Leave”?

“Med time Donald”. “Thank you MR. Charles” “That’s quite alright, make sure you get them all” “That’s good now give me back the cup please”. “Thank you, now rest until group” “I will MR. Charles”.
“I’ll see you there Donald, I’m closing the door now”. “Ok”

“There, now you’ll be gone by the time I rest” “Oh no I won’t my love, no I won’t” “But go ahead and rest anyways” “I’ll be here when you wake” “You may be, but after that, you’ll be gone for good I promise”.



“Wake slowly my dear, wake slowly” “See I’ve been here waiting all along, just for you”. “I’m awake, and I have a surprise for you” “A surprise’? “I love surprises” “It’s over here behind the toilet” “That’s an odd place to hide my surprise love”. “I know but I couldn’t let anybody else see it” “Oh I can’t wait” “Neither can I, neither can I” “Here it is, I’ve had it for three days now” “Where did you get that”? “Don’t worry, that’s not important now” “What’s important is what I’m going to do with it” “This small piece of metal is not only a gift to you, but to me as well”.

“It won’t work my love, you tried this before, and you failed just like you failed in everything else you ever did” “What are you doing”? “that’s too high up” “Stop”! “We can’t”.

Well done!! Your story incites a real visceral feeling to me, one that is surreal and yet all too real, uncomfortable and frightening. One of the personalities is dying. Were they the "core"?

I thought it was interesting too. But I got the impression BOTH personalities were dying. One of them made the last choice for the both of them.

Thank you all! I left allot to speculation, and of course imagination because I know readers here have a great understanding, I wonder though what kind of feelings my story invokes as many aspects, dark as they may be could possibly be interpreted as positive to some. Thanks again all.

Your story reminds me of a Paranormal city bus ride that my friend and I took a few years ago. There was a man talking to himself on the bus when we got on and of course all the seats were empty surrounding this guy. We ended up next to him, only the aisle stood between us.

My friend dozed off for a few minutes then woke up. He told me that he heard two people carrying on a sinister conversation. I said no, it's only the one guy talking. but He swore that he heard two people talking and the voice aggravated his ears. I looked over at the guy and was shocked when I saw what looked like another man's face coming out of his.

This is the short, short version of what took place, and these things make me wonder about the people who talk to themselves out loud.

Top Story, great name too

Great story. I've often wondered about those folks who either talk to themselves or just stare off into space like they're a part of some mystical conversation I'll (hopefully) never be a part of. You really had me thinking for awhile there.
