Jimmy Hendrix was murdered!

Rock legend Jimi Hendrix was murdered by his manager as part of an insurance scam, a new book by one of former aides claims.

Hendrix choked to death on his own vomit when he was 27 – but the exact circumstances of his death have always been a mystery.

Now James ‘Tappy’ Wright, one of the rock star’s roadies, claims that Hendrix’s manager, Michael Jeffery, confessed to killing him. Jeffery is said to have made a drunken confession a year after the star’s death in September 1970.

An ambulance crew found Hendrix’s body in the Samarkand Hotel in West London, in the room of Monika Dannemann, a girl he had known for just a few days.

Wright claims Jeffery was worried that Hendrix was preparing to find a new manager when their deal was due to end in December 1970. According to Wright, Jeffery said he went to the hotel room and stuffed Hendrix full of pills and wine.

The book, called Rock Roadie, out next month, recalls Wright’s life with various rock stars during the Sixties, including Tina Turner and Elvis Presley.

In it, Wright claims Jeffery, who was married to actress Gillian French, made the confession at his apartment in 1971, two years before he died in a plane crash.

He writes: ‘I can still hear that conversation, see the man I’d known for so much of my life, his face pale, hand clutching at his glass in sudden rage.’

He says Jeffery told him: ‘I had to do it, Tappy. You understand, don’t you? I had to do it. You know damn well what I’m talking about.’

He quotes Jeffery as saying: ‘I was in London the night of Jimi’s death and together with some old friends ...we went round to Monika’s hotel room, got a handful of pills and stuffed them into his mouth ...then poured a few bottles of red wine deep into his windpipe.

‘I had to do it. Jimi was worth much more to me dead than alive. That son of a bitch was going to leave me. If I lost him, I’d lose everything.’.......

Saw a recent documentary on Jimmy Hendrix on TV. Brings back some old memories. As I understand it almost all of the early flower power groups such as the Moma's and Papa's, Buffalo Springfield, where composed of 100% children of either the very rich (Illuminati) or senior military personnel (Illuminati). Others, often had military training or Jesuit training and if not and they where popular and independent, they didn't live long. Elvis and Hendrix both had military exposure and I have to wonder if they had special military/CIA exposure preparing them for social roles like the DC sniper, Sirhan Sirhan and Oswald. Elvis's music seems to have been different after his military career. Perhaps Hendrix was a little too much of a free thinker for the handlers rather like John Lennon?

That said, Hendrix was a horrible guitar player. Innovative and free spirited but horrible most of the time. Went you see his behavior at the Monterrey Pop festival you have to wonder whether he was a tool of the Illuminati?

a horrible guitar player? kinda have to cough at that one. umm i'm guessing you're saying sometihng more specific then what you actually said.

first of all jimi's band followed him, he always had teh pressure of holding rhythm, making melody, oh and also singing.

noel was a crap base player and never did anything but follow a half step behind jimi. jimi even beat him up on stage once because it was so annoying. mitch wasn't aterrible drummer but he followed as well.

now imagine being a ground breaking guitar player in about 3 different areas. being black, playing electric, playing radically new styles. add on to this that you have the sole responsibility of keeping the band together 90% of the time and yeah, you're gonna have a few off nights.

maybe if jimi played in a 3 chord folk band you'd be more impressed with his consistency.

Plenty of black guitarist played the electric guitar before he came along. That was nothing new.

He is most famous for using amps and pedals more than anyone before him to get a unique sound. That is the only reason people claim him to be one of the best guitarist around. That plus playing with only his right (fretting) hand, using his teeth or playing behind his back and between his legs. Even though many had done those things before him.

He was a novelty at the time.

His ability to play lead and rythem at the same time wasn't because he had to. It was because his large hands made it easy for him to do and he chose to do it. His band saw him as a show off and they were right. That is why they jacked up all the time. They were tired of him showing off.

He couldn't sing and relied on effects to mask his ordinary playing skills.

In other words, he was over rated.

Plenty of other guitarist that are better then him are still around and we still have that crap on the radio.

Truth hurts sometimes, you just have to look past idol fantasies of him and truly critique his playing abilities to see it. If you are a fan then you are a fan. He had one or two good songs, I enjoy The Wind Cries Mary.

Still doesn't change the facts about his playing style.

I didn't mention Randy Rhoades because he isn't around anymore as your arguement of what if he Hendrix was still around. Slash is a great guitarist and that famous melody you mentioned is boring and repetitive. Zakk Wylde can play more then just the electric guitar, he is also a very gifted accoustic guitaritst. Some of his best work has been done on an accoustic.

It takes more to being a great guitarist then using the wah wah peddle, other effects and stage tricks.

In the end it doesn't matter, you can sit around listening to his songs on your ipod if that is what makes you happy.

Anyway, if this is true, it's such tragedy. I like Jimmy's music. I wonder how many other musicians could have been murdered in similar circumstances. I can think of a few.....

To say he was overrated and not talented is ludicrous.
He was one of the most influential, gifted musicians of his era.
Most people in the industry, will also agree.
He headlined Woodstock for Chriss sakes!
