Obama's NYC Date Night

Those items are part of their budget, they aren't randomly charged to taxpayers. Didn't anyone on here take a basic civics class? This was a topic we covered very well in ours, and also touched on in basic economics.

Maybe the dinner and theater tickets, and hotel, but you know he didn't pay for all of this

three Gulfstream jets,
cargo planes,
presidential limousines,
motorcade vehicles,
Secret service agents,
Secret Service advance teams,

All of that is standard for a president. If McCain had won he'd have gotten the same. A Republican in the White House wouldn't change the perks that go with the job.

P.S. Where do the cargo planes come in here? To my knowledge no president gets those. Are you talking about having the house in Chicago moved to Washington? In that case all other presidents have had their moving expenses paid too.

The cargo plane is for his specialized limo, motorcade and extra fuel for his plane.

The president doesn't just rent a limo service or use the local airports fuel. It is all carried in a C130 as a security measure. So it does cost alot to just take a small trip to NY for a broadway show.

The big deal is that he preaches to us to tighten our belts and then a few weeks later he does this. It wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't fly in the face of everything he has been telling us to do.

Yes they are paid for by us. He doesn't send us the bill.

Personally I applaud them for trying to escape the White House bubble whenever they can... at least he is not running off to his ranch every other day for a vacation of cutting brush.

He is so far the most out and about president we have had in a long time and I think that is good...

Isolation or life in a bubble is not good for anyone especially the president.

What did you guys think you were getting when you voted for Obama. What did you think you were getting when you voted ANY of these guys into office?? He's president, and like allll the presidents before him he is going to break promises, spend money that isn't there and lie through his teeth to the people... Oh, yeah... and keep us safe. Its politics. Bush took vacations, Clinton took vacations, the other Bush took vacations.. And trust me, there will be a lot more in the future. Democrat or Republican, it doesn't matter. Their hands will be in our pockets forever. The difference between us and them is our vacation is called "Unemployment".

Whatever happened to the quick and simple jaunt up to Camp David??

The greater D.C. area is full of excellent restaurants and theaters so maybe next time Barrry and Mike will support their local economy and spend less of our money.

These little date nights are a logistics nightmare!!! Keep it simple Barry. Perhaps your wife can cook you a chicken pot pie and give you a back rub in the Lincoln Bedroom.
