Climate change 'kills 300,000 every year'

www.telegraph.co.uk

Three hundred thousand people are already dying every year as a result of global warming, according to the most comprehensive report ever on the human impact of climate change.

The report by the Global Humanitarian Forum, set up by Kofi Annan, the former head of the United Nations, looked at the latest information on changing weather patterns and how they are affecting humans in terms of spreading disease and causing starvation and even conflict.

An interesting news story, which is alarming and certainly grabs headlines; maybe that is the intention of the study.

Estimating the number of deaths caused by climate change seems like a extremely inaccurate thing to calculate. They 'looked at the latest information on changing weather patterns and how they are affecting humans in terms of spreading disease and causing starvation and even conflict.' Nations do go to war over resources but this is not the sole reason for doing so surely; so how can you attribute those deaths to climate change. If every country in the world had access to clean water and food does that mean an end to all wars ? I doubt it. Furthermore, if one country in a region is suffering because of a drought, then its neighbouring countries must also be having similar problems, so it seems illogical to start a war if that is the sole issue.

Mortality figures in third world countries must be pretty unreliable particually over the century.

The spread of disease can also be attributed to a number of factors aswell, particularly access to health and living conditions. There is not a correlation between the number of pandemics and temperature rise from what I can see for example.

The study seems to me to be based on alot of guess work in my opinion, but I would love to read the study fully to see how they came to this conclusion.

It is obvious that as the climate warms there will be more deaths, however, I question the motives behind the study and the figure of 300 000 deaths. To me it seems like a wild stab in the dark.

Question: If human caused global warming is real, how the hell are we heating up the entire solar system?

I was just on the climite depot web page reading about this. It seems that people were calling foul on this report even before it was released. Of what I read from the report, it seems like a UN scare tactic.

the way i read it: sounds like a marketing ploy for more donations. marketed to populations to put pressure on officials to change policy in addition to garnering donations to feed the world. science is the ultimate marketing tool for everything from elections to crime to war. Gore and his silly movie is the prime example of this.

That headline it totally misleading. Global climate change is something we do not control, so what is happening because of the sun.

The headline is bull. Species come and go, and people are born and die, thats the way of the world.

this is getting ridiculous, these "progressive" control freaks no know bounds in their arrogance and attempts at control.

I read a letter in the UK Times yesterday from a bunch of doctors- that is right folks, DOCTORS, saying how it is their duty to lecture their patients on global warming, the same way they would smoking and drinking

They can shove it

it's always about the money, and if they make it sound bad enough they can get donations AND government funding.

did they the subtract deaths from the cold? I'm sure people die from being too cold, for which the antidote would be warming. surely there should be some kind of equation to calculate the total effect of warming vs cold.

From what I have read in the past, Many more people die each year from cold than die from heat. I am sure the numbers could be google out.

The United Nations and its global corporate associates are over eager to establish a revenue stream based on this theory of human-driven climate change.

They may have made a strategic error. People were supposed to be more compliant and receptive to the 'dogma of science'; but somehow, that just didn't happen. It will be interesting to see them blame every climate variable on human activity. There will be increasing efforts to mold public opinion on a global scale to propagate this theory as fact.

Third world nations, already beset by numerous problems caused by transnational corporate pollution and supranational bank cartel machinations, will be told the industrialized nations of the world are to blame. Slowly, pressure will increase until the WHO, World Bank, IMF, and other supranational globalist organizations become the defacto money handlers for those who will be forced by taxation to 'pay' for the pollution.

The elite middlemen will get richer, and the environment will continue to deteriorate because, if it got better, they wouldn't be able to continue skimming money from every nation on earth - which is to say that NO real or effective efforts at curbing or offsetting the pollution will be enacted.

Just like the money mongers behind the health care scams, they do not want our planet to get better, because they wouldn't be able to use the poor planetary ecological health situation for their political and financial agenda.

300,000 a year huh? It would be fun to dissect that assertion at it's source.
