Any chance of people posting a rough idea of their age?
I'm struggling to know how to approach things. Anyone know what a schema is? Well my ATS schema is well and truely skewed... I need to know a bit more about the ATS demographic to get it back in line.
Thanks.
Me - 25-30

From all the possible definitions for 'schema' (en.wikipedia.org...) I assume you mean the philosophical use of the word as coined by Kant? ;] (24-30 btw;p)

I maybe shouldn't have asked that question. The more important point of the post is age range.
However, thanks for that, I didn't know there was more than one meaning... Off topic.... I think schemas are a pretty important part to understanding life (mine atleast) and breaking them down is the key to original thought and new perspectives on life.
Edit... sorry forgot.. yes I mean that definition.

schema n. , pl. schemata or schemas . A diagrammatic representation; an outline or model. Psychology.

I guess the word could be used in this context. Should have probably posted this on BTS~

Okay, I will play along, although I am curious for what purpose you wish to use our demo info. Please enlighten us as to your project.

something ate the rest of my post! Here is my info, hope it helps!
Female, Accountant, 25-34 age demo (I am quite near the end of this demographic)

I'm sorry but I cannot give you my age as it is a huge secret.

I will tell you though that people have estimated my age to be from 30-50 years of age.

I know there is a huge demographic here on ATS, lately the younger generation has been signing on and showing their support. This is people between the ages of 13-18.

You can often tell someone's age by how they put their sentences together.
Younger generation tends to be short and curt, usually with words everyone can understand.

The older people get the larger their vocabulary becomes. They tend to pick up more grammar and sentence structure as well.

Well my ATS schema is well and truely skewed

I was hoping not to have to go into this as so many people will take it and me the wrong way but it is only fair I explain....

ATS is my main source of info and education regarding space, politics and whatever other leftfield subject comes up. I don't just use ATS but I do use a lot of the links people post.

It occured to me that if I was 15 I would bloody love this place more than playing with myse.... sorry. A lot. So there must be loads of teens on here.... not a bad thing.... I repeat not a bad thing. But.... I also know what rubbish I'd be posting on here if I still had my malformed teenage brain (it hasn't evolved much btw).

Long story short..... I just want to make sure I'm looking in the right place.. I want to make sure ATS is for me.

OK lots will say I'm ageist etc etc etc I guess I am but only from experience.

You are absolutely on the money with this one! Being in the over 50 group it amazes me the way young people use language. I have a niece in college and read one of her papers, she is a high B student, and if I were her professor I would have made her redo the entire paper. I am no English teacher or expert for that matter, but I could construct a better sentence in 6th grade.

I often chuckle at the posts of some of our younger members, the enthusiasm of youth is wonderful, but they still do have alot to learn.

That was a right interesting demographic pie. I wonder how much it has changed since 2007? I'm happy that I've lived this long and against all the odds. I'm a youthful looking grandma of four. No one ever guesses my real age

Well said and I completely and entirely agree. My vocabulary is rather limited at times but with the reading I am doing I find myself using new words frequently.

I am 23 FYI.

As much as I agree with this I feel the internet/texting age has changed things somewhat. I know many older people who are unable to use grammar correctly. I also know a certain author who when writing in the public eye uses terrible spelling and grammar as well as seemingly immature phrases.. this is due to lazyness.

It's easy to spot someone trying to write beyond their means.

I'm 46, going on 47

I prefer to be clear, concise and straight to the point. I dislike excessive verbiage, unlike many people on this site.

I guess i'm young at heart...

I'm 23.

Honestly, I don't think age can really define anything about the people on this site.(or in regular life )
You will come across some people in their 30's-50's who have the insight, common sense, logic, reasoning, and general intelligence of a 10 year old with their constant bickering, instigating, and flaming and the oh so great temper tantrums lol.

But you'll also come across some in their teens-20's that have more life experience, tact, class, and intelligence that the earlier said "older" adults could only wish they had.

After reading through the threads you'll clearly begin to see who falls where and learn a lot about their personality&credibility but take it at face value if someone presents "facts" or any subject material look into it yourself.
Remember that just because a person has been a long time member or is "respected' in the world of internet friendships/cliques doesn't mean they aren't capable of lying or creating a hoax.
