Couple: County Trying To Stop Home Bible Studies

SAN DIEGO -- A local pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a San Diego County official, who then threatened them with escalating fines if they continued to hold bible studies in their home, 10News reported.

The Whole Story

Don't get caught up in the idea this is about a bible study group. As the story states, if they think the can stop this group from assembling once per week, what's to keep them from halting any kind of group meeting by imposing prohibitive permitting procedures and licensing fees?

"If the county thinks they can shut down groups of 10 or 15 Christians meeting in a home, what about people who meet regularly at home for poker night? What about people who meet for Tupperware parties? What about people who are meeting to watch baseball games on a regular basis and support the Chargers?" said Broyles.

What's next? Political action groups?

Wow, I'm not sure if this is a poorly planned tax grab or an attempt on blocking groups from meeting. I bet they didn't stop homes from being used by Political action groups in the last election.

I hope that all this turns out to be is a case of an overvealous county planning employee.
