Whether you realize it or not that is not an answer. You're just tossing around meaningless labels. I mean, should someone ask me what are you're "core-values" and I answered "well, he's centrist to liberal" does that answer the question? Hardly.

Unless you can tell specifically what "values" it is that define these cartoonish points on some imaginary line right or left I cannot accept that have any idea you yourself understand the words that are coming out of your mouth.

Well,

On the 5th of November of 2008 the chairman of the Republican National Committee said that the core values of the Republican party are:

Smaller government.
Strong defense.
Individual responsibility.

Which actually sounds good, until you examine how modern Republicans really interpret what these values mean.

Smaller government should mean; less taxes and less government intrusion.

But what modern Republicans really mean is…

Less taxes for the wealthy and large corporations. They leave the middle class and poor to fend for themselves. They consider less taxes for the middle class and poor as being socialism or wealth redistribution. To them, obvious evils.

They also mean less government spending on education, regulation, environmental issues, social safety nets and the prosecution of white collar crimes.

No regulation of corporations allows corporations to lie to, cheat, screw and control the people unimpeded. Have you been paying attention to what has been going on with our financial institutions over the last 8 years?

You can’t really claim the modern Republican party wants less intrusion when they are fighting to legislate their personal brand of fundamentalist religious believes into the homes and schools of our country

They want to outlaw abortion on religious grounds.

They want to outlaw Embryonic Stem Cell research on religious grounds.

They want to outlaw Homosexuality on religious grounds.

They are attempting to sneak religious based creationism into our schools science curriculum.

They are attempting to change what is accepted as “scientific method” to give science a religious underpinning.

Our Constitution insists on a separation of Church and State. Yet the modern Republican party is making every attempt to legislate their brand of fundamentalist religious based social beliefs into our life’s.

Sure doesn’t sound like they are trying to limit government intrusion or uphold the separation of church and state to me.

Strong Defense
Strong defense really means strong offence, attacking other countries preemptively who are no threat to American security, but who have resources America wants or who threaten the profitability of American corporations.

Individual Responsibility
Individual responsibility really means set up a system so wealth flows from the poor to the wealthy creating an ever wider wealth gap, the classic — the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. It means leaving those at the bottom to go without food, shelter or health care, even when providing shelter is cheaper than dealing with the consequences of the homeless. It means using economic and military power to take advantage of third world countries, ensuring their populations get paid no more than a dime an hour, leaving them to go without food, shelter or health care, burning out and dying before their 30th birthdays in order to provide goods and resources for the USA.

Yup, those are the core princibles. And it's true most of the current republicans ( at least the ones getting all the media attention) do not abide by them in turn making them big government, empire building, neo-cons. So when you start off talking about "far-right" what are you talking about? When you say people are rejecting conservative values are talking about conservative values or neo-conservative values? If you mean neo-conservative values such as big government and empire building how do you explain the election of Obama since he ran on continuing the expansion of government and the war on terror? Being that the split between totalitarian McCain and totalitarian Obama was nearly 50/50 I'd conclude that people love neo-conservative values and are afraid of small government and individual responsibility.

I would have to disagree on that.

I think some of the reason people are turning away from the Republican party is based on the consequences of some of the “core values.”

For instance, the Republican mantra of eliminating as much government regulation as possible. Republicans want us to believe that if we do not regulate industries and corporations, they will self regulate and everyone will be better off.

This was supposed to be “trickle down economics.” Republicans preached that if we deregulate corporations and give them tax cuts then they will get richer. Then, after the rich got richer, those riches were supposed to trickle down to the middle class and poor. The problem with that theory is, those riches never trickled down. The rich kept it all.

Americans today are starting to understand the true implications of deregulation and corporate tax cuts and they are not fond of those implications.

Deregulation and tax cuts for corporations have been responsible for:

Unaffordable medical care.
Unaffordable medicine.
Unaffordable higher education.
The poisoning of our planet.
The erosion of savings.
The erosion of retirement funds.
Credit card companies that can hike interest at will.
Cable companies and cell phone companies that can charge you hidden fees at will.

These are issues that the majority of the public are concerned about.

During the recent presidential race, McCain did very little to address these common American concerns. Obama did address these concerns.

If the Republican party sticks to their present “core values” that do nothing to address the concerns of the majority of the population, they will have no hope of ever being in power again.

None of these things have been unregulated for at least as long as I've been alive. The insane amount of beurocracy and the illusion if deregulation wrapped around government interference and partial deregulation are what have failed and have consistently failed for some 70 years now. Given the population is made up of almost entirely ignorant buffoons who vote in oversimplistic ways such as "a D was inwhen I lost my jon so I'll vote R next time" then I'd agree they seem to long for big government totalitarian neo-con ideals (which what I said earlier).

There is a reason Joe Biden was known as the Senator from MNBA. He sold out to the credit card co's and is the reason so many of them were hq'ed in Delaware. Thank him for the high rates and fees.
