www.youtube.com...

here is a link to a video i just came across, not sure if its been posted already as the title and description are in french ( i think ), the poster of the video , who i am assuming is who took the video said that it was completly silent, and such an amount of lightning in one small area? is this normal ? some amazing stills from it, at first i thought of war of the world with that scientologist midget tom cruise lol.

i pondered on a few thoughts of what this could be and i came up with these theories

1) aliens drawing power from something
2) goverment testing of some sort of new weather based weapon
3) grease lightning is gettin way too excited

4) a malfunction in some sort of facilty which is creating lightning

what do guys think?? peace

Why shouldn't this been seen as just regular lightning?
I'm just asking because maybe you know something I don't.
To me it just looks like a distant small storm cell.

the only reason i though of it as strange was the if you look through the comments on youtube the poster says it was completly silent, also it look too close to be a distant small storm cell, maybe i could be wrong about that tho as i am in way knowledagble about storm cells or how they operate, it just striked me as odd as to the amount of lightning and the such small area it was striking, either way its some prettty nice footage as im sure you will agree

I've seen storms like that here in Florida, lighting storm, no real thunder, no rain, dad calls it's heat lightning.

Occasionally just sit outside and watch it.

This I wouldn't get too worked up about. I live in a very flat area and it looks identical to that video when there are storm cells around us. Sometimes you hear them and sometimes you don't. Depends on the altitude and distance of it occurring whether you'll hear anything.

Oh ok.
I wasn't asking to challenge it or anything I was just wondering.

I find it odd he says there was no thunder,
At least from my understanding on the subject it is impossible to have that kind of lightning without sound, unless it's heat lightning but heat lightning looks nothing like that where I live but i'm sure it's different in different environments.

Unless he is further away then he seems.
If he is far enough away with sound bending upwards that could explain why he can't hear it.

Also it kinds of looks like crawling lightning, or spider lightning
www.youtube.com...

interested in the people who actually are educated unlike me lol to give their opinions about the no thunder and such

pretty neat stuff anyway it's really beautiful.

It is a thunder Head, And the bright lights in the still photo's are called Sprites.
This is very normal and if you live in the South East of the U.S or the Mid west like I do then You will see this quite a lot!

As to the sound, well some of the Storms go up to 50,000 ft and as that one looks it is miles from the person taking the video. And with the winds and all you can be at a point where you can not hear the thunder. But with the music playing you would not be able to hear it anyway.

But what you are seeing is very normal.

Yep always enjoy a good old fashion heat lightning show, its mother natures 4th of july you could say. Especially here "on the beach" in florida.
You might also want to look into ball lightning that can be freaky if youve never seen it up close.

I've seen lightening without thunder before, but nothing as spectacular looking as that IMO. Most likely it's heat lightening. Thanks for posting that video!

Wow that is strange. Anyone else have any clue what it could have been?

I just found this video of a UFO sighting near where I live:

UFO in Liverpool

I'm yet to see one myself, but I'll keep my eyes to the sky

Violent electrical storm in Oklahoma early morning hours of the 4th was the most amazing and scary storm that I have ever been in. It started just as day broke and the I checked the online doppler and a range of storms had appeared out of nowhere, a thin bank going across the entire n to s diameter of the state. When I awoke, the thunder actually sounded like bombs going off that the flash of lightening would coorelate with the exact sound of the boom. The house would shake and the the ground would shake. The scary part was not only the geographical way that the storm showed itself in the state, but also that the lightening was so intense and that their was no rolling thunder up in the sky. It was just the clap noises that came from the ligtening bolt hitting the ground. When I looked out the window, there was no clouds over my house, just a weird fog. It was spooky. I grew up in Oklahoma but I have also lived for about 10 years in the mountains of Arizona. I have never, never seen any type of storm like this before. I think something different is going on and I definitely think that we need to understand lightening better for the future. These storms are getting more violent and man have developed no way to be safe from these electrical bombs dropping from the sky.
