British researchers have taken genetically engineered adult stem cells and have developed a way to attack tumors without damaging other tissue. The type stem cells used are adult stem cells taken from bone marrow. It has been tested to cure lung, squamous, breast and cervical cancer. The method would allow the cells to be injected into the body and actually search and destroy any tumors throughout.

They also have done astonishing things with immunotherapy, they basically super charge your immune system and use the person's own defense system to attack and destroy the tumor. From what I have read, in some instances they clone the body's antibodies and inject them into the tumor, again without the trauma of destroying any other part of the body.

Great article, it was passed along. It's about time that this technology is utilized.

I dont think the big pharma companies are going to like that if it pans out. There have been so many "cures for cancer" but all of them never hit the big leagues. Conspiracy? I think so.

Your absolutely right about that. I try to follow cancer research as my family has a history of cancer. It seems like thru the years, every time a promising cure for cancer is revealed, it disappears and you never hear about it again.

It could be a cure, so could any number of things, the problem is cancer is a big money maker. There is too much money made in chemo and radiation treatments than in a one time cure.

Same thing with transplant recipients, there have been some wonderful studies on how the immune system could "be killed" the receipant is given a bone marrow transplant from the donor along with the organ, and as the immune system rebuilds it incorporates the donors genetic info making immunosuppressive drugs obsolete. However in doing this I and everyone else that transplants effect wouldn't have monthly drug bills of over 2500 dollars.

The article states 38% of the tumors in the treated areas were eliminated. So this is not a cure for cancer just yet, but the way it works gives real hope. There are more treatments out there that eliminate x% of tumors, and as long as they don't have adverse effects we might even be able to mix those.. Great :]

"An attractive property of these cells is that they are "immunoprivileged," meaning the body will not reject them as foreign invaders. That means they can be made in batches instead of having to make custom stem cell treatments for each patient, Loebinger said."

So expect those percentages to go up. And the fact the human trials could start as early as two years! Here's hoping!

Hey star and flag! Good point on the cancer cure. The media is always too busy telling us about the life of Paris Hilton to follow up on anything of importance like cancer!

Again, comes as no surprise that all human ailments will (eventually) be cured by science. As Tom Petty would say: "waiting is the hardest part." According to this article, they have only tried the cure with mice. That means it still has to pass the monkey and human tests..... so still quite a ways to go >>

He said a number of safety studies would be needed, but the team hopes human trials could begin in two or three years.

Oh don't worry the pharma companies will be all over the marketing and selling of any cancer cure. Everything they sell now is some twist on something found in nature. Why would a cure be any different? Just give them time to let the healthcare system adapt and a new business will blossom overcoming the old.

Eh, will be awhile before they offer stem cells in a pill.

The cure will come from an injection into the blood stream. But.......

"When we delivered this therapy, 38 percent of the tumors were completely eliminated."

Only 38% were completely eliminated in mice. Completely and mice being the key words. So there's room to hope, but nothing to jump up and down about.

Paul references the work of Dr. Manuel Guzman, Madrid, who has seen THC kill brain cancer cells while leaving surrounding tissue unharmed, demonstating the neuroprotectant properties of Cannabinoids.

Why get cancer in the first place?

Read The China Study, by Dr. T. Colin Campbell

The China Study

In this book, Dr. Campbell explains in detail how it is excess animal
protein in our diets that appears to cause cancer. In one part of the book, certain children in the Philippines, studied by his research team were contracting liver cancer from specific toxins...but only when these children ate a diet high in animal food did they actually develop the cancer after exposure to the toxins...children who ate a diet low in animal food, i.e. mostly vegetables foods, did not get the cancer, even when exposed to the toxins.

In other words, animal protein initiates the development of cancer.

It's an amazing, ground-breaking read.

And you don't have to be completely vegan 100 percent of the time, just most of the time (it's hard for me to be completely vegan for more than a month or so...then I eat some animal food, but not a lot, maybe a half a cup of dairy yogurt or several ounces of fish).

Could it be that it's not so much the animal proteins directly but the lack of fruit and veg that would be also required in order to keep the system clean (otherwise replaced by the animal proteins).

Great find. I follow cancer research quite closely as it runs in the family and I had cancer when I was 12. I am always cautious because my cancer can come back at any time (skin cancer as a direct relation to a sun allergy) so any new breaking treatments is good news to me!
