The Foundation of Reality: Information or Quantum Mechanics?

www.technologyreview.com

All this work stems from the growing realisation that it is not the laws of physics that determine how information behaves in our Universe, but the other way round. The implication is extraordinary: that somehow, information is the ghostly bedrock of our Universe and from it, all else is derived. That really is mind-blowing.

With the recognition of "information" being a physical principle, appropriately labeled Information Causality... the source of all we embrace as reality is closer to our current state of understanding then ever before. As our world becomes more and more digitalized i can foresee a future in which we perceive everything in the universe as simply a form of information.

When we consider all that exists in our man-made world originated with a thought, we are in our own right mini gods/creative-beings. When information fuels thoughts which lead to action that produces physical form, this theory is so fundamental, no wonder he have over-looked it for so many years. This simple shift in our scientific community's awareness could very well be the missing/evasive link to all that we ponder and take for granted.

Great find,

I also think the universe is based on information and scientific materialism needs to be broken. It's assumption that needs to be erased. We can't assume that the universe is based in materialism because that just comes from a belief and has nothing to do with science.

This is also in line with the holographic principle and M.I.T. Professor Seth Lloyd saying the universe is a quantum computer.

Information can exist independent of matter and we are all informational constructs. Reality is basically virtual with virtual particles popping into and out of existence in the vacuum.

I know it seems strange but we are the product of the universe which may be a quantum computer or an advanced civilization that knows how to program the universe.

This premise of Information Causality speaks to our current economy in the information age. Being that information is a commodity that we pay with information/experience... e-money being the go between. A bartering of information if you will.

For instance, now a days, high school graduates can apply for colleges, take out loans and attend college all via the computer. Once they had demonstrated that they have absorbed the information and can regurgitated it with accuracy, they can earn digital currency by sharing the information they learned to purchase/exchange for access to more information (legal/medical/technical advice) and/or for others to apply their information/experience to benefit your physical world (clean/repair/landscape).
