NASA: Hubble Camera's Repair a Partial Success

HOUSTON - An ambitious attempt by Atlantis astronauts to fix the Hubble Space Telescope's broken main camera has apparently met with only partial success, with one of the instrument's three photo channels failing to recover as hoped, NASA officials said early Sunday.

Kinda sucks but this is the same one they failed to fix in 2007 apparently.

The high-resolution channel "is likely down for good," Byerly said in a NASA TV update just before 1:00 a.m. EDT (0500 GMT). The other two channels are in fine health, which still represents a major increase in science with the return of the wide-field channel, he added.

There is still 2 other channels on the camera thank god.
Hubble somewhat lives on!

The high resolution channel? Hmm, higher resolution would mean seeing things we haven't seen before, right? We being the general public. Maybe this is just an excuse instead of telling us that there are things out there that they don't want us to see.

Doubtful. Why would they spend tens of billions of dollars on missions to find out stuff they already "secretly" know?

Anyway, back to reality, it is a shame that it could not be fixed, maybe they should have just replaced it instead. Oh well, i'm happy with the upgrades we have now. Can't wait to see some great pictures. At least all the new gyroscopes worked correctly, that was the primary mission objective.

It feels disappointing that they haven't taken all necessary steps to achieve each and everyone of their goals after spending aaaaaaall this money...

Yeah it is pretty upsetting that they spend all this money for something they are not sure they can fix.
