Pentagon Preps Soldier Telepathy Push

www.wired.com

The military has been funding a handful of mind-tapping technology recently, and already have monkeys capable of telepathic limb control. Telepathy may also have advantages beyond covert battlefield chatter. Last year, the National Research Council and the Defense Intelligence Agency released a report suggesting that neuroscience might also be useful to “make the enemy obey our commands.”

Basically - the funding is in place for project "Silent Talk" - this is to enable telepathic communication -

The power to read thoughts is worrying - Thought Crimes will be next on the 1984 big brother agenda

The quote "neuroscience might also be useful to “make the enemy obey our commands.” suggests that project "Silent Talk" may have many sinister implications for thought control

It looks as though this is building upn existing technology

Teaching Telepathy in the milatary has been going on for a long time now for over 30 years infact. I read a fantastic book by David Moorehouse on the subject a while ago, can't remember the title, but it was about the training he received when he was enlisted for remote viewing.

Some people have actually reported that there are on this very planet people that have 'heroes' (the tv show) abilities and that they work in the government sector.

This is fascinating and terrifying at the same time.

The device in the New Scientist article is amazing.

"The smartest man in the room" as they call it in which a man can query search engines without even saying a word. That could be incredibly useful.

I wonder if future models could be used to translate speech into whatever language was required. Example: You think in English the device reads your words translates them and then produces the computerized voice.

This reminds me of the advanced humans in old Charlton Heston "Planet of the apes" that don't talk aloud. They used these "telepathic" neckbands to.

Thinking of words can guide your wheelchair

They are even using it to control devices!

When the phone rings, 9 times out of 10 I know who is calling. It could be common sense of course or simple deduction. Most of the time we know who it could be on the other end of the line, right?

It sometimes freaks out my SO when I say who it is before he picks it up. We don't ever talk about it and I don't claim any special power or skill. Its something that came to mind when I read this post.

If I am capable of that little thing, just imagine what training and technology can accomplish. Since mind control is not commonly accepted knowledge or dinner conversation, then the myth grows and the fear of the unknown along with it in some instances. The secrecy behind who is conducting these studies and programs is what alarms me.

If, in fact, telepathy/technology is possible and being used to control the enemy, its not a far stretch to imagine circumstances which lead to just anyone being named "the enemy".

Look at the ATS threads and you'll see so much division and hatred from opposing (literally) ideologies on political and religious themes particularly. Maybe the point of contention is not originating with us. Maybe some targets are being manipulated telepathically, covertly.

Maybe not. I'm attempting to collect a lot of thoughts in one place to form a more complete picture and am very interested in the subject. Part of my life was spent dealing with a religious brainwashing. It is insidious.

"These are not the droids you're looking for."

Well, I doubt it'll truly work. Controlling someone else' mind is completely different from a monkey controlling an artificial limb.

I heard someone say in coast to coast that some people working for the government could remote view and they knew where Osama was but they wouldn't catch him because the war would be over and they didn't want it to end.

Didnt the CIA already mess with this and found it to be bunk so quit the program after 2 years or so?

From the article I couldn't determine whether the telepathy was being developed by technology enhancements or as a natural talent/tool. Technology was involved, but did this mean an implanted was needed?
This is not scary, but a skill everyone needs to develop. But we don't want to be chipped or under anyone's thumb.

The question is, would you only take their word at face value?

They investigated ESP for a number of years, and then supposedly stopped researching it even after admitting getting successful results with it, when the public start taking more notice of the program.

They used to have a nuclear demolitions team, too, that would put a very small conventional nuke on a bridge to blow it up, for example, though that would obviously create a lot of mess. They were simultaneously trying to research pure fusion reactions so that the fission wouldn't be necessary and they could make a bomb as small as they want and give off very different radiation (mostly alpha) that is harder to detect, and much less radiation in general from a more efficient reaction overall. Then they suddenly declared it was impossible to build a nuke smaller than conventional ones, and also scrapped their nuclear demolitions program if I remember correctly. They'd been pouring trillions of dollars into this kind of research since the 1960's and even earlier, so think about it.

Sometimes you have to read between the lines..

Is it anything new?

Or a lost form of communication?

An interesting consideration for those who are impressed with this technology is that the neckband need only be a very strong microphone.

Why?

Because people tend to think in words rather than pictures.

When people think in words, their vocal cords still go through the motions as if they were speaking out loud.

Subvocalization involves actual movements of the tongue and vocal cords that can be interpreted by electromagnetic sensors. Since 1999 NASA, as part of its Extension of the Human Senses program, has been working on a system that can interpret a limited number of English words using nervous signals gathered from sensors placed on the throat's exterior. Chief Scientist for Neuroengineering at NASA Ames Research Center, Dr. Chuck Jorgensen, has suggested that it could have potential applications for rescue operations people, security and special operations forces, people with vocal cord problems, and might even find a place in gamingeWikipedia Link

A very primitive form of technological mind reading is in fact just the amplification of your subvocalizations.

On a side note, anyone else find it interesting that NASA is interested in this?

exactly, you know you can train those "telepathy skills" with good friends..Doing the same activities with the same person on the same time on the same location, things will get familiair, and some sort of telepathy might develop..I kinda had this thing with a good friend when we always went to the same coffeeshop[hasjbar

As i mentioned in the other DARPA thread, roughly 90% of their projects failed, among the 10% is the internet, so we might thank them for that [heard about this new DARPA project on the tv news here yesterday!]

Other things they're working on are intelligent binoculers, scanning for early danger..
