President Shimon Peres is willing to hand over Israeli sovereignty of key Christian holy sites to the Vatican, a proposition that is reportedly opposed by Interior Minister Eli Yishai and that has ruffled feathers among other senior government officials, Army Radio reported on Monday.

I suspect that the Vatican hasn't fully recovered from the economic beating it has been taking for the last decade. This may be seen as a move to invigorate the Church.

Give em the whole country, The vatican is the richest corporation in the world, biggest landowner, biggest boy-lover(arguably), maybe they will finally turn Israel into a modern profitable country. And who knows, maybe theyll even figure out a good way to deal with the palestinian population
