whats is this on google sky?

Hi folks,

Was bored and looking at google sky and saw an image which has me puzzled and was hoping that someone on this site who is good at image interpretation could tell me what it is. I am not sure how to link to the exact position on google sky but the co-ords are

44" 3" 21.6

It is the circular light patch with a dark central area pairs off darker strands leading off at the nouth south east west postions.

Is this a natural phenoma? something created by the image software or telescope?

I have my own little pet theory on this but will wait to here back from you folks and someone who is better at image interpretation than me before i divulge my little per theory.

Is it possible for you to save the image and paste it here for the benefit of us without current access to google earth?

will try to but not very tecnicaly minded so bear with me for a few minutes.

REALY SORRY about this but i just cant get my laptop to take a screen shot of the page!!!Grrrrr If someone could help me out and post a pic if the object or tell me how to do it i would be foreer in your debt.

I dont' see anything in normal view. If you are talking about infrared view, then that is the plane the satelite travels on or something. See the line which goes across the sky up and down like a big U? That is actually the galactic plane and is a straight line in our view.

While the display for google sky is flat, the positioning and direction of the stuff is spherical. So when you take that sphere and turn it into a flat map, then you get those curved things.

You can see the same things on the orbits of satellites at nasa etc. They have the flat screen, and the satelites are traveling across the sky in a straight orbital line, but on their screens it makes the big up and down U's etc.

Outside that, I didn't see anything abnormal.

From what it looks like to me it is something to do with the instruments that they have used to take the images. if you use infared and look it doesn't give off a heat signature, which kind of leads you to belive that it was just a shadow or such

Looks kinda strange indeed, perhaps something to do with stiching the images together?

Its' parts of the telescope and internal reflections. Basically a bad image.

Ahhh, if that is it then I guess it must be different on google earth than on google sky. I went to Google Sky and didn't see that at all.
