We certainly do have some of these powers. I spent a while with the Shaolin. The training is difficult and often painful, but the results are impressive, and superhuman to those that don't know the process by which it is achieved. I assure you, it is very grounded methodology:

It's all in the soul, and from the soul it goes to the mind, and from the mind it goes to the body. Flows like a river, until it crashes. When you punch in Shaolin Kung Fu you punch with the force of your whole being.

The physical training process for Iron Fist is a long process of beating hot beans, hot nuts and bolts, hitting a stack of paper against a stone or brick wall, hitting the sand pad, and bare fisting steel(eventually).

Iron Body works much the same way. Your attack points like shins and forearms are hardened by rolling bottles over the bone, using hardwood paddles, kicking rope-wrapped tree stumps, hitting the sand pad, breaking stone and brick...

The idea behind this is ancient but supported by science. As the practitioner makes contact with his training aid the calcium in the bone breaks in a honeycomb pattern, collapses, and reforms in tighter patterns. Thus making the bones extremely hard over time and with repeated strikes. Some monks have achieved a diamond body. Bones so hard they can break jade.

Really it's quite a lot of hard work. Far more hard work than most people are willing to do in order to achieve these feats. But it is possible.

i agree, we only tip toed ourselves into the mind, we have to delve deeper to find what we are capable of.

Thanks for that video, The Shaolin Monks are proof that with training much more is possible than one would assume.

I think that the development of any kind of skill would take a high level of mental toughness, the kind that is only achieved through meditation.

Indeed, meditation relaxed my natural anxiety when I went through some of these steps. It was quite frightening to hit something you know will not give on impact. Shaolin Kung Fu is physically taxing in every way imaginable. It is why exercises of the mind and spirit are important.

not really, laws are made to be broken, they might find a gene that can unlock one of our abilities, we only use 10% of our brain, what do you think the other 90% is for?

That is utter nonsense. We use 100% of our brain, just not the entire thing all the time. For example, we don't use the balance area of our brain when we're unconscious. It doesnt serve any purpose.

Perhaps you should read about human physiology before posting about the human mind.

Anyway, laws, to you, seem like they need to be broken. However, we are talking physics laws, not police laws. You cant break some laws. When will people accept the fact that some things are just impossible? Call me a pessimist, but come on.

Not to mention that if you would use 100% of your brain you would fart, puke, piss, take a dumb etc. etc. all at once
Not to mention you would also remember every memory you have in the same moment, that might get abit confusing
People might think you're sick or something considering all the wild movement of all your muscles...

you would have to strike a deal with an entity; and you would have to be very lucky to chance upon that

I actually practice Americanized shaolin long fist and taijiquan. I say americanized because I learned it in the USA. My grandparents put me in classes when I was young and it stuck. I still practice actually.

Where you really training with real monks?!?! Woa dude, that is amazing! I wish I had the privilege / honor to do such a thing. Could you maybe U2U me and tell me what it was like?

Da Mod. Excellent! You are studying Chang Quan (Long Fist). Beautiful art.

If you are interested and depending where you live I can introduce you to the Shaolin Monks in SF and LA area. They are open to teaching everybody, as it is their goal to spread shaolin culture and the heart of the buddha to everybody. If you live anywhere near those areas or are in the area visiting and you would like to train with some shoalin monks I could set it up for you. They are also he ones that made it possible for me to study at the temple in Songshan (original shaolin temple). They are generally very nice and open. Bt it's not always what you think the training. somedays you will go to them amped up to do some hard conditioning, and instead they say sit have some tea with me and we'll talk. and for the next few hours you simply drink tea together discussing just about every topic. many of the monks in the US speak english well enough for you to understand all the concepts. U2U me if you want.

also, they will probably try and physically challenge you at first (think masochistics annonymous or something similar) to see where you are at physically and mentally. they will also want to see your movements to know just what your chi gong understanding is and to see if it is infused with the kung fu properly. It's very important to them as chi gung is the core of the shaolin movements-it's built in to all the real shaolin movements. might want to review some Yi Jin Jing or Rou Chuan before traning with them, as it will allow you to get more to the meat of the kung fu and not so much the basics.

just curious what sort of "americanized" shaolin were you learning. Lou Han Shi Ba Shou? Wu Bu Quan? Xiao Hong? Tong Bei? Just curious. always happy to talk about shaolin culture.

Amituofo!

meditation is also very good for the mind and buddhist monks like to meditate which they say that the earth is no longer around them and that they go into a higher plane of thought

There is no natural way for a lifeform to have "powers". That is the reason we call such things "supernatural". For example you can not move matter just by mere thought.
If you use technology though, things change. With technology you can replicate most of these powers you are talking about.

Let's thing about this constructively though. Let's assume that I say to you, "I have the power to know what your thinking". I could certainly make it look as if I do. But do I?
All claims of mind reading (for example) are bogus. A person claiming to be a mind reader is only making you think that he is reading your mind.
A good example of this would be the mentalist Derren Brown. I don't know if you heard of him, but he does certain tricks were you'd think he can indeed actually read minds. Then when the trick finishes he tells you "it was all a trick, done by blah blah blah, I can not read your mind". But if he were to ommit the last part of him explaining that it was a trick, you'd remain convinced that he is a mind reader. And this is the technique that fakes who claim to have "powers" are using.
I'd recommend you watch the Derren Brown interview by Richard Dawkins. You can find it on YouTube, and they explain how these people who claim to have powers are working.
