"An emergency exercise will start next week - from 27th April - run by the Scottish Government to test the country’s preparedness for any pandemic
flu outbreak that might occur.
This does not signal any raised level of concern that such an outbreak is on the way. Speaking ahead of Cauld Craw, Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill
says: ‘Although there has been no change to the level of risk of a flu pandemic, an outbreak has been identified as one of the main risks Scotland
could face’.
Cauld Craw will be the government’s main civil contingencies exercise for 2009. It is part of a programme of events to ensure Scotland is well
prepared to deal with the consequences of any emergency.
The four week exercise will involve a range of agencies across the country. It will test resilience and improve knowledge and understanding of how to
handle the issues Scotland would face in the event of a pandemic."
Now Im sure the odds of 9/11 taking place while the government is in an excercise dealing with a strike on the twin towers and the UK government
involved in an excercise consisting of tube station bombs on 7/7 is quite high.
How much higher then that the Scottish governmemnt were involved in an excercise covering a flu pandemic at the time the WHO were raising the allert
level to level 5.
