Fox News viewers witnessed a rather incredible scene on Wednesday as anchor Shepard Smith and Fox contributor Judith Miller (of CIA leak infamy) repeatedly and passionately condemned torture, with Smith declaring at one point, "We are America, we don't torture! And the moment that is not the case, I want off the train! This government is of, by, and for the people -- that means it's mine. That means -- I'm not saying what is torture, and what is not torture, but I'm saying, whatever it is, you don't do it for me! I want off the train when the government starts -- I want off, next stop, now!"
The full segment is worth a watch. And Smith felt strongly enough about the issue to speak out about it again as he was heading into commercial break.
"They better not do it," he said. "If we are going to be Ronald Reagan's Shining City on the Hill, we don't get to torture. We don't do it." Fade to black.
UPDATE: On FoxNews.com's online show The Strategy Room, Smith took his opposition to a whole other level. "We are America!" he shouted, slamming his hand on the table. "I don't give a rat's ass if it helps. We are AMERICA! We do not [*SNIP*] torture!!"

I agree that EIT does not equate with torture. (Believe me when I say that I can truly torture someone.) Waterboarding is not torture. Putting someone win a roomfull of insects isnot torture unless the insects are poisionous. Sleep deprivation is close to torture. Sleep depreviation combined with listening to rap or heavy metal music is definitely torture.
But it does not involve physical pain. A few sharp knives, a feather, some vinegar and salt, and a man will tell you anything. And that is the mildest thing I can think of. I have many exquiste forms of inflicting physical and psychological pain in mind. And I would not hesitate to use them if it meant protecting my family or my country.

Enhanced interrogation is NOT torture.
Waterboard derived from college initiations, and being put in a cell with an insect is hardly torture. Being forced to listen to rap music may seem like torture, but nothing like getting a finger chopped off. A Muslim getting questioned by a female may be offensive to him but they need to get over there sexist views. Threatening to send them to another country for interrogation may be a little sneaky, but I'm sure they would rather stay under United States control than go to a Muslim country for interrogation.
I'm sick of the Blame America First crowd. America sets the standard on the way detainees are treated. We should be applauded but the BAF crowd will never go for that.

Torture, rape, murder, warmongers = The United States of America.
