I have looked at a few local council websites 2day and they have put in place emergency plans for future events!!!!!!

You do know the government got absolutley slated for not being prepared adequately when the last lot of floods hit? They really need to have these things in place in case anything does happen, (flooding i would say is likely) natuarally or not. From your link in your second post, these are the main risks:

◦Avian Influenza (Bird Flu)
◦Flooding
◦Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD)
◦Human Flu Pandemic

A flu pandemic sounds about right....just look at the US at the moment.
Its the london marathon on the weekend i think...what a perfect breeding ground for a flu virus

I have noticed Something i'll be keeping a close eye on, very worrying indeed although if fear spreads, there could be panic with every sniffle. Flu epidemics do happen in this country, hence flu jabs. Unfortunately with avian flu ect. the threat is always there, birds migrate. All they can do is try their best to do everything they can to prevent it and isolate any outbreaks. Foot and mouth already just about killed the farming industry, it IS something that needs a plan of action.
