Bay County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded this morning, April 21, 2009, to the Sting Ray Motel at 8001 Surf Drive, Panama City Beach in response to a call from motel management concerning the strange behavior of one of the guests.
Upon arriving, the deputy parked in front of the motel room and could see a man inside the room, standing just on the other side of a window about ten feet away. When the deputy stepped out of his patrol car, the man threw a Medieval type battle axe through the window at the deputy. The deputy ducked the axe just in time to duck again as the suspect threw a knife with a six inch blade. The suspect then brandished what appeared to be a long sword and locked himself in the bathroom in the motel room.
Deputies attempted to negotiate with the suspect but got no response. They were able to get the bathroom door open and the suspect remained unresponsive and was taken into custody without further incident.
Terrence Croskery, DOB 3/9/76, of 8001 Surf Drive was taken to Bay Medical Center for evaluation. Upon his release he will be charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
