First off I don't know where to put this question? It is prob nothing but the same image moved Northeast. It was not stationary. I was looking at the radar images from my area and zoomed out and this was over the Raleigh area. Is it just a glitch?

Hmmm... that image is very intriguing. I mean, of course it looks like a UFO but that is a very interesting cloud formation and if u said that it was not stationary then was this image the same 4 hours ago or did you check? Nice find, any other opinions?

I've seen a lot of these "glitches." They happen on occasion, oddly, recurring at several sites across the US.

I can't remember where, or under what subject matter, but you can see taped videos of live radar scans, when these "donuts" will glitch the radar screen, and then instantly they are gone.

I would say it's more of an electromagnetic anomaly.

From what or where? Who knows!

Depending on the location, weather radar does pick up chaff drops by military planes. They usually appear as a small dense circular cloud that dissipates within a few minutes. They'll usually appear in the same areas, because they're dropped in military testing areas.

Depending on what product the forecasters have selected this could be a perfectly normal presentation. It's referred to as RAG- Range Azimuth Gating. What happens is video at a certain range and azimuth is blanked so it does not clutter the display rendering it unusable. The NEXRAD (Next Generation Radar) or super doppler as some MSMs refer to it is a very powerful and sophisticated system.

Those things I've seen several of, were not screen blankings, as the glitch was circular and did not cover the screen.

And unlike the military chaff, this was a more or less perfect circle, that covered a very wide diameter, larger than any aircraft could disperse.

If I recall, it seems that there are a few locations in the US that time and again have the bulk of these anomalies.

I'll try to find that stuff and you guys can take a look at it for yourselves. It's clearly not an equipment glitch, not a blanking, and not chaff. You have to see it to believe it.

I'll try to find that tomorrow.

I appreciate all the feedback. I figured it was just a mechanical alteration from the radar. I did not know if I was discovering something amazing LOL

I just took a screen shot of the image and had to crop it because for some reason it takes a screen shot of my other desktop as well (TV split screen) and is just a black screen.

Are you sure the radar itself isn't in the center of that?

If so, layered cloud cover would produce that same effect.

Could it be some sort of weather control? I know it seems kind of sci-fi, but that's kind of what I would expect of something imperfectly clearing cloud cover in a sphere around itself.
