Oh and the new guy mentioned God's wrath against the Pharaoh.

A little light on the subject...

...the 7 plauges that plauged egypt were actually written by the Jews to influence themselves, and in reality all the plauges but pretty much just the nile to blood thing, would be worthless against the pharaoh.

Most of the plauges were natural disasters that occured in egypt all the time, usually regularly, and the "kill all first born sons" yeah right, like Ramsees the Great (II) would really give a $hit.

He had over 100 sons, and who knows how many daughters.

And he was about 60+ old when this was all supposedly happening, making his eldest son about 40 and I think his first 7 children all died long before him.

God's wrath is simply saying to the Jews (Stay in line and god won't do to you what he did to them, and if you stay in line he'll keep doing to them what he did)

Afterall we are talking about a henotheistic society here, that survived that way even up to Jesus's time period.

Jesus WAS more than a man with an idea, he solidified the Jewish god, into a completely monotheistic concept for the Christians.

Henotheism is the belief that there are many gods, but only ONE god worth worshipping, and any other god is a turd who should be destroyed, or forgotten really...

So as you can see though, God's wrath is just a concept by Moses that he got when speaking with Abraham's decendants, to transfer to the rest of Abraham's "tribe" whom forgot their heritage in Egypt, and so God's wrath was a concept, as well as many other stuff in the old testiment, simply laying out the culture of Abraham's people.

And zaxatron, it's not like we're bullies, the rest of the world is just horribly backwards compared to the US and they need a major a$skicking.

FreeMason,
You are right I haven't lived there and it was just a generalisation of mine.

I am having an opinion of the american system, not the people.

And why should the US A$skick the rest of the other countries? Who says that the US way is the way? It is a way, not the only way. People should be free to choose.

People have different opinions (and because of this they are you classify them as backward!) and different ways of living their lives (with this I do not condone terrorism!).

I mean everyday I am being flooded with US culture.Switch on the TV american programs, american shows, 99% the cinema movies are american!, little room for other cultures.

I am getting choked constantly. This is bullying people by means of media and tv. You might call it marketing.

To mention a couple of multinationals, Coca-cola, McDonalds rule undisputed.

I know a lot of people have jobs because of this, but you know very well Coke and BigMacs are bad for your intestine. Fenic acid, cholesterol, sugar and the rest!

To me it looks like the US of A always want to have a finger in everyone's pie.

And about Iraq? I know there is a dictator there, but does not mean the people are backward!

This was the nest of civilisation thousands of years ago, Mesopotamia, the Sumerians etc.

Is Bush an example of democracy in declaring a war? Have the americam people voted on this issue or he is the sole decider with his cabinet?

What I don't understand is the fact that most of you replies on things saying like "you're on crack" bla bla, but I never see any evidence from you guys which shows the opposite. What's up with that ? Like MT69, you always say a lot, I have yet to see 1 evidence from you that show all of us that you are right and the rest is wrong. Talk is easy, prove it !

One advise, speak for your self at all time, don't speak for someone else as if you know all about him/her. When you speak for someone else, don't bring it as a fact, you can never know what someone else think or do.

"Only outsiders think this, come live here for a time you'll see that that is only a sterotype, most americans care about a myriad of things, I myself care for so little about money, that when Enron collapsed I lost 90k (owning no enron go figure
) but not like I'm fretting about it.

In the south I lost enough to buy a good house with some left over for a car
"

Most american care about money. With money comes piece of mind. I seems that you don't care about it because you don't have any. Which is a good thing, so when you do get money you won't do something stupid like buy gold teeth
lol Don't take this as a dis

I don't know if any one noticed but ever since bush came into (or stole) office bad things have been happening.

How old are you?

How long has it been since you started paying attention to current events?

Bad things have always been happening.

True bad thing have allways been happening. But within the span of 3 years? Since you know everything go back in time and find examples where bad things have happened within the span of 3 years. You must like Bush huh?

I dispise all politicians... Bush is near the top of my list.

Perhaps you might be better advised to direct yourself to the anals of history to understand the idea of "bad things" happening all the time. A quick review of the front pages of the Washington Post or New York Times of the past 10 years (at your local library) may alter your opinion quickly.

HEY ZAXATRON
You said something kinda funny in your post. You said the American way is not the only way and that the people of the world should be free to chose! Well Thats tha whole point they arent free to chose. The American way is freedom to chose so you see you embrace the American way and didnt even know it. Most people in the world will not volunteer to chose "Freedom" because freedom is dangerous, freedom is scary, when you are truly free you are totally responsible for your own actions thus you are free to succeed and free to fail. There is no government safty net when you are truelly free. This is scarry to most people. I suspect you are afraid of it as well most Americans are afraid of it which is why we have such political debate over the "Nanny state"!

Oh, there's been plenty of 3 year periods of huge disasters. 1996-1999 is a good period to look at:

HURRICANES
1999
Sept. 1418, Bahamas to New England: Floyd and associated flooding caused at least 57 deaths including one in the Bahamas. Hardest-hit N.C. suffered 35 Floyd related deaths. Deadliest U.S. hurricane since Agnes in 1972. Damage estimated at $4.5 billion (actual cost).

BLIZZARD:
1996
Jan. 68, eastern U.S.: heavy snow paralyzed the Appalachians, the mid-Atlantic, and the Northeast. 187 were killed in the blizzard and in the floods that resulted after a sudden warm-up. Damages reached $3 billion.

TORNADOES:
1997
May 27, central Tex.: multiple tornadoes, including one particularly strong twister that devastated the town of Jarrell, caused 29 deaths and an estimated $20 million in damage.
1999
Jan. 1722, Tenn. and Ark.: a series of tornadoes left 17 dead. Damages were estimated at $1.3 billion.
1999
May 3, Okla. and Kans.: unusually large twister, thought to have been a mile wide at times, killed 41 people and injured at least 748 others in Okla. A separate tornado killed another 5 and injured about 150 in Kans. Damages totaled at least $1 billion.

TERRORIST ATTACKS ON US CITIZENS:
1998
Aug. 7, Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania: truck bombs exploded almost simultaneously near two U.S. embassies, killing 224 (213 in Kenya and 11 in Tanzania) and injuring about 4,500. Four men, two of whom had received training at al-Qaeda camps inside Afghanistan, were convicted of the killings in May 2001 and later sentenced to life in prison. A federal grand jury had indicted 22 men in connection with the attacks, including Saudi dissident Osama bin Laden, who remained at large.

AIRCRAFT:
1996
May 11, Everglades, Fla.: ValuJet DC-9 went down in swamp, killing 110. Cargo fire caused by oxygen generators missing safety caps.
July 17, off coast of Long Island, N.Y.: TWA Boeing 747-100 bound for Paris from N.Y. exploded over waters of eastern L.I. and crashed into Atlantic Ocean, killing all 230 aboard.

DROUGHTS:
1998
Summer, southern U.S.: severe heat and drought spread across Tex. and Okla., all the way to North and South Carolina. At least 200 were left dead and $69 billion of damage was estimated.
1999
Summer, eastern U.S.: rainfall shortages resulted in worst drought on record for Md., Del., N.J., and R.I. The state of W.Va. was declared a disaster area. 3.81 million acres were consumed by fire as of mid-Aug. Crops were severely damaged in many states, putting losses in the mid-Atlantic region at at least $800 million. Record heat throughout the country resulted in 282 deaths nationwide.

You can research it for yourself here:

There's some good candidates for 'high disaster triples' in the 1980's as well.

What about unnatural disasters?

In answer to everything everyone has said: I think we are fighting daddy's war. We found some empty warheads. Is this really a reason to go to war with a country that we get our oil from? I think our president is trying to get revenge on the people who tried to kill his father. Or maybe he is trying to succeed where his father failed.

In Bush's presidency we have had a lot of turmiol and tragedy. When he came into office, he had that big texan attitude (as we tend to have here in texas). He acted as though the rest of the world was inferior to the almighty US of A.

Personally, I didn't vote for this man. I have been in texas for 14 years. Never have I seen a governer screw up so much. He did nothing for texas while he was in office. The only reason why he carried texas was due to the fact that everyone thought he would do such good things for us as president. Anyway, getting off subject. Although the clinton administration was not without it's flaws, I voted for Gore. Clinton was always the peace maker between the nations. Notice we never had war or even the threat of war while clinton was in office. All of a sudden Bush comes into office and we get bombed by a pissed off nation. He does not know how to deal with people in other nations and we as a nation suffer because of it.

I sometimes wonder if we are going to war over oil. It would make sense. Even though we have plenty of oil to last until we make cars that no longer need oil, we don't want to tap our resources until we have depleted the rest of the world of their supply.

Or maybe Bush is sending our young prominent men off to die to up the economy. After war our economy gets good. After ww1 we had the roaring 20's and the economy was great. After ww2 the depression ended and people started buying all of the things they couldn't buy during the war. The economy was booming. After desert storm we had the great economy of the 90's (under clinton). Now that our economy is suffering, maybe Bush thinks a war is just what we need to boost the economy back to what it was.

Okay... I agree that we've never had an unnatural disaster like Bush.

(you obviously missed that some of the above were "un-natural" disasters, and if you'd gone to the link you'd have seen other similar disasters such as explosions, railroad derailments, oil spills, etc, etc, etc.)

You could pick any country and probably come up with a large number of 'triplet years' where there were an unusual number of non-natural disasters. Looking back through history doesn't show these years associated with any particular pattern of theology or politics or anything else.
