I think she should get protective custody until she is found guilty. Remember we are all innocent until proven guilty.

I am anti death penalty except for the murder of children. There are some crimes that are just plain evil, and child murder is one of them. Sexual violence against children is another one.

Those would be the only cases in which I would vote for the death penalty. I do realize the perpetrators are mentally ill, but even they have some idea of right and wrong when it comes to children.

How many guys convicted of "sexual offenses" have been freed of their convictions, now that we have DNA evidence? THAT is why they should be protected.

But, by the same token: if anyone's (sexual) bodily fluids were found on a child, I'm finding it pretty hard to imagine how they would have gotten there "accidently".

Some random thoughts here:

If you take a person into custody, you are responsible for their safety. In prison, child-molesters are the bottom of the food chain. When you consider the low-lifes you often find in prisons that's saying something.

As for this grandaughter of a preacher man and Sunday School teacher, she should be confined in a suitcase at the bottom of a lake. "Eye for an eye", don't you know.

I agree with you completley, but I would like to sort throw a stick into the conversationg just to see how it goes.

Keep in mind, that I agree, that these people deserve the eye for an eye treatment, but I want to ask, Why is it ok for us to kill, but not for them?

Is killing killing? Or is there reallly certain situations when it is ok to kill some one. Does killing them make us just as bad as them?

I was just curious what people thought, keep in mind I think this lady deserves the worst.

I am of the opinion that people who prey on children should get what they deserve.

Perhaps the Guards in these prisons might not be the most observant people maybe they don't see things all the time.

However, for those in prison that want to change their ways, want to do better when they get out. I say that prison shouldn't just be about punishment but to better themselves so that a life of crime isn't their only option.

Education gives a person options and some people deserve a second chance, maybe not the child molesters or killers, but other criminals should have the opportunity to make up for their crimes, pay their debt to society and emerge with a second chance at a normal life and a good future. To deny them this opportunity is to deny them any hope of becoming a valuable member of society.

So I have read quite a bit here. Now for those that aren't aware, I am graduating and starting my masters in Clinical Therapy in late 2009. My speciality will be abused teens and kids and the abusers themselves. I am by no means the end-all-be-all here...but

I think something is missing here. Not every person who rapes a child is mentally ill. Some of them genuinely have an intense attraction to children. I am not condoning it of course but I thought you might enjoy something I have done.

As part of the Master's Degree we have to write a thesis and mine is going to be on sexual assault and molestation of minors. So I have a two part statement/question here

1. Of the people I have interviewed thus far I found a disturbing trend. I ask a question whereby the interviewee is the judge, jury and executioner. Here is how it goes

a. You are presiding in a case where a 42 year old man has had sex with a 12 year old girl. You have the ultimate authority for punishment. What do you do?

b. You are presiding in a case where a 42 year old woman has had sex with a 12 year old boy. You have the ultimate authority for punishment. What do you do?

So far, the mean (average) jail term for the adult male is 12 years...for the female...counseling and 1 year.

I stll don't believe there is real equality here. Some are very willing to lock up the person and throw away the key while others are willing to throw the molestor into general population where they will more than likely be destroyed.

As stated earlier, this system we have in America is bunk. I have been to prisons where a man who has murdered three and confessed to haveing no remorse has cable TV, internet, and plenty of outside time. On the other hand I have seen people sent to the farm because (also as mentioned before) this 18 year-old guy was in a loving relationship with a 16 year-old girl. I think there is a ton of injustice floating around.

There is a case of innocence here. Are some of you really implying there is no difference between a man talking on his phone and running over a kid versus a man who rapes and slays a kid on his own accord? Yes the child is still dead and yes the man on the phone should be punished but we want to punish the same for the two?

On the same token, are you also suggesting that you know the family of the slain well enough to know how they will respond to the different scenarios? Of course there will be a loss in both situations but there is going to be a huge difference in reaction between a car accident and a rape/murder. That is why the law is different and we hold varying degrees of murder. It isn't murder...

It's Murder 1, 2, 3 Manslaughter, Involuntary Manslaughter and so forth. There are differences

Now the one thing I can see beneficial in keeping them protected is studying them and what makes them tick...otherwise I see no issue with gen pop for them.

Now as for judgement...green is right. If she is judging their souls then so are you. You are just judging differently. Judging positively doens't mean it isn't judging.

2. The second part of this is a question. Would anyone like to take part in my interview? The only requirement is you must be 18+

U2U me if interested. This is anonymous
