Was something above St Helens in the last hour or so..?

Evening all,

We've just spotted an unusual vapour trail in the sky above Thatto Heath, St Helens.

What was unusual about it? Firstly, it was very straight and low heading west to east - it then zipped up and around heading straight up in the sky - from my point of view.

There is very little wind at the moment and it has drifted off fading - very fast - to the east.

I managed to snap off a pic - I know what it's like here, but it's not very good. I'm afraid I have a blackberry - not a digital SLR.

I'm not saying this was zeta reticulans doing a drive by, but it was seriously strange.

I suppose my question is...did anyone see anything? Did anyone else see the trail? OK, that's two questions, but who cares?

Any ideas, guys and gals?

I see a lot of aircraft about tonight, but none are leaving trails at all. The sky is perfectly clear apart from this.
