Mexico's Senate Approves Property Seizure Law

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexico's Senate on Thursday unanimously approved legislation that would allow the government to seize property from suspected drug traffickers and other criminals before they are convicted.

Under existing laws, suspects must first be convicted before their property can be seized and trials often last years in Mexico. The new law allows prosecutors to ask a judge for a seizure order before the end of the trial.

This is interesting in the fact that Mexico's Senate has approved this, when their economy is worse off and in the crapper than our own.

$1 American dollar, translates in $13.64 Mexican peso. So, they are doing just about anything in the name of money, when they are trying to fill their coffers, they go after an easy target.

This news makes me wonder if we'll see headlines like. "Coming soon to America,Mexican style property confiscations" or "Property confiscation deemed unconstitutional by the people.Government says so what!!"

Just wait until this happens to an American citizen, who happens to be collaborating, smuggling, or transporting it. It could become an international incident, or an international collaboration of governmental agencies.

This is what it's all about. A "cross-border" group, means the United States and Mexico working hand in hand.
