Millions of US Jobs lost to H1b & H2b Visas

So let me get this straight. Many of you criticize illegals for getting jobs illegally and now you have a beef with foreigners who went through the proper channel and did everything legally.

How can you condemn a foreigner for getting a job in the US legally?

If you guys want Americans to have these jobs and not the foreigners, then maybe we should get Americans better educated to avoid such shortages.

I hear that the military has a bunch of job openings.

I really didn't see the link between the "dumbing down" of America and the foreign workers. Incredible, it's not the bad education, the tv shows, the lack of discipline, the refusal to answer for your own actions .. no.. it's the evil foreigners making you and your children dumb.

American citizens, in their fight against evil, against terrorism -are becoming more radical and xenophobic by the day. Draw your wagons in a circle, git your women and children in the middle and kill those pesky injuns.

i agree that americans whine too much , indians are far more hard working and hard work must be rewarded , not laziness like that of americans

To be honest I would openly welcome the US kicking out all immigrants.

India would gain 35% of all the doctors in the US, 30% of all the NASA engineers etc.

Japan and China would gain back their lost sons. The brain drain would be reversed.

Britain would gain back our tax exiles and business oriented expats.

Your best and brightest really aren't "natives". America's strength has always come from taking the best people of other nations. The day you stop that, is the day your nation falls on her knees and crumbles to dust.

The day you kick immigrants out of your country is the day the emerging markets become even stronger, to the point of becoming unstoppable.

Your other option is to quit whining, educate yourselves and your children well for value added innovations based jobs and bring in bright and good immigrants and turn them into Americans. It's what you have always done as a nation- why change a winning formula just because of some xenophobic subconscious urges?

You people just don't get it! Thousands of fully qualified US citizens apply for these positions and get passed over every time. Because the agenda is to not pay market value for said positions, as well as no benefits. Therefore saving a tremendous amount of money bringing you here, at a reduced salary. Effectively throwing AMERICANS under the bus. And our government condones this behavior. What makes matters even worse is, you take our american dollar and send it back to your countries, furthering our financial dilemma. As i have stated before these positions are only supposed to be temporary. Well guess what, there not. I see these people buying houses, cars, big screen TVs, just like we americans do. What we are trying to tell you, in no uncertain terms is that our government is GIVING THIS COUNTRY AWAY, LIKE IT'S A K-MART BLUE LIGHT SPECIAL. We don't want to be a GLOBALIST, SOCIALIST, COUNTRY RUN BY CORPORATIONS..

Unpopular and tough decisions need to be made here, if we are going to survive. I do not wish to offend anyone, but we must take care of our own first before delving out our jobs to foreigners. If this were your country, i am sure you would feel the same. "TOUGH TIMES CALL FOR TOUGH DECISIONS"

Immigrants are Americans who just haven't sworn the oath of allegiance yet.

Americans are immigrants who have got complacent.

Understand that. You are no better than any immigrant. You have no automatic entitlement to a job, nor prosperity.

And finally, you claim you don't want a socialist, corporatist entity. Yet a government which imposes labour market controls is precisely that- a socialist, corporatist monopoly.

44 soul, My friend you need to get a clue. Its statements like that, that shows your fierce lack of intelligence. You did not fight our wars for us and shed the blood of true americans. While I respect military service, it is still not the basis upon which a state must find its raison d'etre.

You shed your blood for your country... big whoop. That means you and your family can remain free. When in a war, the immigrants who turn citizens will also shed their blood to maintain a country that can be free.

However what you do with that freedom has nothing to do with how you got it.

You are entitled to the right to the pursuit of happiness, not to guaranteed happiness.

That's your opinion and your entitled to it. However my point is spot on, loud and clear and true in fact. And i am sure most of my AMERICAN brothers and sisters would agree with me whole heartily.

Well this one doesn't.

And let me tell you how this American brother of yours got to be an American.

Got here on a student visa, got an HB1 visa after college, worked my ass off, got my green card, used my savings to open my first business. Got my citizenship and over the last twenty years I have employed over a thousand people and paid millions in personal and corporate taxes.

I perhaps took 2 or 3 jobs from "americans" when I first got out of college but created over a thousand in return.

You just fail to grasp the nature of HB visas discussed in the OP. Read one of my previous posts explaining it and you will understand that the HB visa process is NOT even a blip in the US' immigration issues.

You want to take issue with US immigration policy, fine. You just picked the wrong section to do it.

Once again I see the narrow mindedness in your statement. Exploitment of our jobs at the cost of the true citizens of this country is the issue. When you came to this country the economic status was quite a bit different, than our current. And as admirable as you may be, given your contribution to this country. Your still missing the point. Just a word of advice though- espouse your position without insulting others. Both s-dog or I could have turned you to dust with our wit, but have shown you only restraint thusfar. I'm heading out of this thread because I cannot keep up that restraint, and because you will never see the truth unless you realise it for yourself.

Let me try and spell this out for you, since you've chosen to be oblivious the the real truth. These corporations know all the loopholes where these visas are concerned and exploit them to their every advantage. And were not just talking tech jobs either. This is the point you fail to see. I will use A.T&T as a prime example. A very large communication company, nation wide. My transportation company has an account with them where I live. Let me tell you that over 60% of their workforce in this one location are in on working visas. And a lot of their visas have already expired, yet their still here. This one specific division handles all advertising for the entire company. ADVERTISING! not high tech. Get the picture? So once again while you are so ready to school me and take my inventory, maybe you should take your own.

Um...you seem to misunderstand how "market value" works. If the labor pool is composed of everybody eligible to work in that field, and a certain subset of the labor pool (legal immigrants, in this case) is consistently getting hired disproportionately, because "they will work for less," then the reality is that they are accepting the equilibrium price for labor, and the other subset (native-born citizens, in this case) is irrationally insisting on being paid above market value.

In other words, market value is dictated by the market, and if native-born citizens want those jobs, then we're going to have to accept the equilibrium wage.

God help us if we resort to protectionism...
