Ok So My mom forwarded me this scam letter she got and I was truly disgusted. I have seen scam letters that try to trick you out of your money by making you think you won the lottery but this is the first time I have seen one that tried to scare you out of your money.

Here is the email word for word.

Attention:

felt very sorry and bad for you, that your life is going to end like this if you don't comply, i was paid to eliminate you and I have to do it within 10 days.Someone you called your friend wants you dead by all means, and the person have spent a lot of money on this, the person also came to us and told us that he wants you dead and he provided us your names, photograph and other necessary information we needed about you. If you are in doubt with this I will send you to death.

Meanwhile, I have sent my boys to track you down and they have carried out the necessary investigation needed for the operation, but I ordered them to stop for a while and not to strike immediately because I just felt something good and sympathetic about you. I decided to contact you first and know why somebody will want you dead by all means. Right now my men are monitoring you, their eyes are on you, and even the place you think is safer for you to hide might not be. Now do you want to LIVE OR DIE? It is up to you. Get back to me now if you are ready to enter deal with me, I mean life trade, who knows, and I might just spear your life, $9,000 usd is all you need to spend. You will first of all pay $3,000 usd then I will send the tape of the person that want you dead to you and when the tape gets to you, you will pay the remaining $6,000 usd. If you are not ready for my help, then I will have no choice but to carry on the assignment after all I have already being paid before
now.

Warning: do not think of contacting the police or even tell anyone because I will extend it to any member of your family since you are aware that somebody want you dead, and the person knows all members of your family as well. For your own good I will advise you not to go out once is 9pm until I make out time to see you and give you the tape of my discussion with the person who want you dead then you can use it to take any legal action.

Good luck as I await your urgent respond. Do response to me on this email [email protected]

Thanks,
Mr. Jacks Hitler (Everyones Nigtmare)

Now, Needless to say I was completly outraged that this crap was sent to my mom of all people.

Upon doing some research, I found that my suspesions of this being a vicious scam letter were true (look about one quarter of the way down)

I wrote an email back to my mom suggesting that she report this to the local Dallas FBI center and to fill out the complaint form that is linked on that site.(After all that is what the FBI suggests you do when you get this email.

I am just so ticked off that some one sent this out.

If you get an email like this, DO NOT respond to it! Do as the FBI suggests. Report it to the authorities and keep a copy of the email sent to you. Also fill out the complain form posted on the FBI's site, here

What the hell is wrong with people? How can some one want money so badly that they will post scam emails that seem to threaten peoples life?

The world is a screwed up place, and I am so disapointed in my fellow man.

Oh Also, I just heard from My mom that she took my and the FBI's advice and reported it to them as well as filled out the complaint form.

What sucks is these scammers are so hard to catch because they are usually out of the country using some public internet cafe. It is just so hard to catch the people who do this. It may be a waste of time to report it, but It needs to be reported. I only hope that my mom's report will be the one that helps catch the creeps who have been sending this crap out!

These people need to be caught and stopped. This is certainly going to scare a few people out of their money..... It is just disgusting what some people will do just to get their greedy little hands on some money.

Money truly is the root of all evil.

I just came back to see if anyone has replied. I am actually glad to see that no one has. I mean, I hope this has been read, but hopefully the lack of replies indicates that not too many people are getting this scam email.

As I said, My mom reported this just as the local FBI website suggested. She apparently heard from some FBI agent who just called to confirm that they got her report.

The gey (Don't know his name) said pretty much what I thought he would say, which is, this kind of stuff is hard to control. It mostly comes from out of the country and people do it on public lines that ANYONE has acess to.

It is just to hard to really trace it back to the head hancho of these groups.

The guy apparently didnt indicate whether or not they have any idea even of the general area they come from, but then again, I guess he may not tell us even if he did.

Be on the look out folks. This email is a scam. If you get one, Report it to the authorities and file a complain via the links I posted in the OP. This stuff needs to be stopped!

I received an email like that a while back ago. I just deleted it, and I am still kicking. Who would care to eliminate me? I do not have any money or anything of real value.

Just ignore it, as the scammers are hoping for at least a few replies. They will take the money and run.

I know it is a fake, and I am not surprised that you are still alive and kicking, but what sucks is that not everyone will know that. Luckily my mom knew that. She did as the FBI suggested and reported it, and filed a complain at the website linked in the OP. Probably nothing will come of it.

I have gotten NUMEROUS emails claiming that I won some lottery or that some banker has a lot of money and needs acess to an american account etc... I just delete those. I have yet to get one of these "threat" emails and to be honest if I get one I probably wont report it. I will just delete it. But that sort of ties in to my lack of trust of authority figures.

People never cease to amaze me at just how low we stoop in order to try and get what we want. People just disgust me.... Oh well.

Thanks for responding, by the way.

I would be very upset if my Mom received any type of threat. She is computer literate, and would delete any unknown address. She does not want a virus, so she won't even open them.

It is quite true that some people would get very scared and even send money to stop the person. It does remind me of the old Alfred Hitchcock show in which people were offered a huge sum of money from a mystery man to kill a complete stranger. They take up the offer, and find out the mystery man will do the same to them by offering a complete stranger the same amount of money to kill the couple. The note seems to have taken a page out of that show.

I now do not open any emails from addresses I do not know. I do not need a virus or any other problems. The delete is handy, and what I don't know can't hurt or kill me.

Absolutely disgusting but have to disagree with you about money being the root of all evil, some people are just scum to be honest, it just makes it worse that there is no real act of vengeance you can take.

I must live a very sheltered life. I don't think I've ever got one of those scam emails, of any sort.

I'm soooo depressed...

Isn't that crossing the line from fraud to extortion and maybe terrorism?
They can't catch these guys? I call Baloney. These creeps should be easy enough to catch. It's their greed that always trips them up.

Nigerian Princes are one thing - Hit Men threatening your family is quite another.
They should be found, tried and punished harshly.

I have had a few stupid emails about inheriting some land near Lake Chad and that the Prince of Eritrea wants to meet me. Funny thing about the hitman email, which I have received, is that most if not all jackals work alone. Another person working with you means another enemy. And they are also about discretion, secrecy and low profile.

Usually you can spot a spam email very easily and this one is the same. Unless I get emails from someone I know or have heard of I don't bother with them.
